I started my teaching career by teaching mechanics as a US Air Force Academy instructor. Following my Air Force career, I earned a Calif HS physics teaching credential (which I still hold along with credentials in math & chemistry). I also studied how to teach physics at a program taught by Arizona State: the program, "Modeling Physics" is the only program judged "exemplary" by the Department of Education. I've taught &/or tutored physics since 1997. My greatest strength as a tutor (beyond really knowing the subjects I tutor) is my ability to adapt to and match the way you learn. A close seco [more]

Hello! My name is David, and I hope to be the tutor you are looking for. I have almost 10 years of tutoring experience in all math subjects, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Probability and Statistics. I have also helped students out with their coursework in Physics and Finance. When I am tutoring, I enjoy getting to know the student and understanding the way the student learns. From my experience, I have found many creative ways of explaining common proble... [more]

Hello prospective students (and parents, spouses, or loved ones), My goal as a tutor is not just to teach you just enough to let you pass that next exam. I work with my students so that they not only know the material that we are covering, but also so that they understand the meaning of the material, the background behind it, and how to apply it in the real world. This allows for my students to handle those really difficult problems where they have to not just recite what was learned, but us... [more]

I have taught math and science in Los Angeles area independent schools (Harvard-Westlake School, Polytechnic School, and Windward School) for 20 years. My undergraduate degree is in Chemistry, from Caltech; I also have a Stanford law degree. I have taught test prep for the SAT, ACT, GRE, and LSAT (TestMasters). High school courses I have taught include: Precalculus, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Chemistry (through AP), Physics, SAT prep. After a brief career as a lawyer, I taught LSAT prep... [more]

Emma tutors high school AP Physics and undergraduate Physics I. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from MIT and is a certified Mechanical EIT (Engineer In Training). She can help you understand Newton's Laws, projectile and rotational motion, conservation of energy and momentum, and much more. Her style of teaching is visual and non-pedantic; she draws examples from everyday experiences. Hello! I?m Emma - cat photographer? French macaron baker? and engineering tutor. Hi my name is Kenton S. and I am a recent UCLA alumnus. I graduated cum laude with highest departmental honors. My bachelors of science is in human biology and society. Having a brother who needed a lot of my help in his coursework in high school, I realized the importance of individualized education. I believe in adjusting my teaching style to adapt to the needs and goals of my students. By helping students achieve their goals my tutoring style helps to build good habits and teaches the... I've always had a natural inclination for mathematics, and enjoyed the experience of helping others to understand the concepts involved. As a UC student studying physics, I tutored classmates for pizza money, and have since helped three baby brothers and a handful of family friends through their middle and high school math and science classes - the oldest of whom is now attending Berkeley. My goal when tutoring is always to nourish the intuitive feeling for numbers that can make the subje... [more]

I have taken College Physics for Scientists and Engineer and tutored it for 3 years while working at Chaffey College. I have worked at Chaffey Community College Math Success center for 3 years (2008-2011). During that time, I tutored all math courses ranging from prealgebra through multi-variable calculus (Calc III) and some differential equations and linear algebra. I also tutored physics, both for non-science majors and science majors. I have tutored many students in the advertised subjects, and received many good remarks directly from those students. Contact me if you need help with s [more]

I took a year of college Physics with labs. I help students better understand the motion of matter that occurs around them. We cover the topics of vectors, velocity, acceleration, force, momentum, gravity, light, sound, electricity, and magnetism. I am a full-time tutor with over 9 years and 2900 hours of experience just on Wyzant's platform. This is not my second job or an opportunity to make extra money for college; this is my profession. It allows me to be more reliable, consistent, and flexible with my scheduling. It also allows me to form long-term commitments with my clients' families. [more]

I received an A+ in University Physics at UC Berkeley In less than 3 years of study, I graduated with honors from UC Berkeley in 2012. My coursework focused mainly on Psychology and the Pre-Medical Sciences and Mathematics. My favorite classes were Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Statistics, and Calculus. Over the past 6 years, I have been working as a one-on-one tutor throughout the South Bay, both privately and with several top tutoring companies. During that time, I've tutored everything from elementary to college mathematics and sciences both i... [more]
