I have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physics and Astronomy (double major) from the University of Washington with a minor in mathematics. I teach several levels of mathematics. I have instructed many students in Pre-Algebra with great success. I help the student to organize the homework, study for exams, go over projects, and practice quizzes. I try to give the student more examples so that the subject is better understood. I show the student how to take notes in class and how to remember topics. The following subjects are covered and reviewed but not limited to: Whole numbers, prime [more]

I am a graduate of Le Moyne College (Syracuse, NY) where I majored in biology and minored in chemistry and philosophy. At Le Moyne College I tutored in the Academic Support Center and conducted one on one tutoring sessions in math and the natural sciences. In the years following my graduation I tutored for Le Moyne College's Liberty Partnership Program and Science and Technology Entry Program. These programs brought tutors into Syracuse City High Schools during the school day and provided tut... [more]

I started teaching prealgebra in 1984, my very first teaching job. I had a split 7/8th grade class. Since that time, I've tutored and taught prealgebra for many years. It is delightful to prepare students for the algebra series and other upper level math topics. I have a Master's in Teaching and teaching certification in math and English. I started my work out of college as a middle school teacher. Then, I worked in business world to learn how knowledge is used outside the academic environment. It helped prepare me to teach students what lies ahead after school. Wanting to learn new cul [more]

I love teaching! It's my passion and I hope to exercise this passion by meeting some of you! I teach most effectively through one-on-one and group interactions. Thus, tutoring is my specialty when it comes to teaching. The subjects I can tutor in are Math and Physics because I have a Bachelor and Master degree in Physics from Western Washington University and University of Arkansas (Fayetteville). During my undergraduate and graduate years at those schools, I taught beginning level physics co... [more]

For some students, I help fill in gaps from elementary math and also help with current material, so they complete pre-Algebra with the skills to move on. For the student who has time and inclination, I enjoy teaching Pre-algebra as a generalization of the arithmetic they've learned in elementary school - encouraging using number sense and problem solving skills. Most students are continuing to build their number sense and are learning strategies that will help them as they progress into Algebra. [more]

Originally from China, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Beijing University and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Washington State University. I have tutored students in the areas of mathematics, computer science, and Mandarin Chinese. I believe that understanding concepts is the key to learning any subject. My method is to help students understand the basic concepts from first principles and then have them practice by applying those concepts. To enha... [more]

I specialize in standardized tests, especially SAT, ACT and LSAT. Although I generally consider myself a mathematician, having studied and taught philosophy at UW for seven years, I also have developed effective communication and pedagogical skills that make me unusually qualified to provide thorough and well-rounded approaches to each of these tests. My background is particularly well-suited to the LSAT, insofar as the field of philosophy is laden with both formal and informal logic, stric... [more]

Prealgebra is the time to develop intuitive understanding of fundamental concepts that will ensure success through the following years of math. In algebra and beyond, it's common to be tripped up by the mechanical procedures. Prealgebra is the time to lay the groundwork in concepts and familiarity so the later concepts feel intuitive rather than intimidating. I personally received top grades in classes from pre-algebra through advanced college math, and have successfully tutored students (formally and informally) at all levels. [more]

I'm Vivian and I'm currently studying to obtain my bachelor's degree at University of Washington. I am a pre-med student studying Biology with a minor in Chemistry as well as Mathematics. My goal is to limit the amount of stress school may have impacted students and to make learning more about the students themselves. I love to tailor tutoring sessions that will most benefit the students learning experience and am always welcome to suggests from students themselves as well as their parent... [more]
