I love teaching! It's my passion and I hope to exercise this passion by meeting some of you! I teach most effectively through one-on-one and group interactions. Thus, tutoring is my specialty when it comes to teaching. The subjects I can tutor in are Math and Physics because I have a Bachelor and Master degree in Physics from Western Washington University and University of Arkansas (Fayetteville). During my undergraduate and graduate years at those schools, I taught beginning level physics co... [more]

For some students, I help fill in gaps from elementary math and also help with current material, so they complete pre-Algebra with the skills to move on. For the student who has time and inclination, I enjoy teaching Pre-algebra as a generalization of the arithmetic they've learned in elementary school - encouraging using number sense and problem solving skills. Most students are continuing to build their number sense and are learning strategies that will help them as they progress into Algebra. [more]

I did quite well in all my middle and high school math classes, including pre-algebra. I was often the go-to girl for helping my friends understand math concepts they were struggling with. I was able to figure out how to explain the concepts or problems in a way that made sense to them. Later, I used those same skills in a math tutoring program I helped set up at my high school through our school's chapter of the National Honor Society. I eventually majored in mathematics at Rice University, where I was an academic fellow, tutoring students in college-level mathematics, among other subjects. [more]

In the 2016-17 school year, I tutored two Seattle Public School system Jr. High students who studied topics in both Pre-Algebra and Algebra I. I try to focus on helping the student understand why what they are doing is working, so they can go in with a strong understanding of how numbers work before they enter Algebra I. Hello! My name is Sandra and consider it my life's mission to not let math stop people from achieving their dreams. I am committed to help every person that contacts me, despite what they can pay. If money is a hardship, I can at the very least help put you in touch with free [more]

Prealgebra is the time to develop intuitive understanding of fundamental concepts that will ensure success through the following years of math. In algebra and beyond, it's common to be tripped up by the mechanical procedures. Prealgebra is the time to lay the groundwork in concepts and familiarity so the later concepts feel intuitive rather than intimidating. I personally received top grades in classes from pre-algebra through advanced college math, and have successfully tutored students (formally and informally) at all levels. [more]

Hello! My name is Melissa, and I'm here to help. I am simply the best tutor around. I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics and Spanish from the University of Mississippi, and I've tutored in both subjects since high school. During college, I worked for the Ole Miss Athletics Department as a tutor. My students all received at least one letter grade higher in the subject I tutored them in. I am patient, and I know how to explain concepts in different ways according to the student's learning... [more]
