Pre algebra is always fun to tutor. I have tutored both middle school and high school students in prealgebra. It is always fun to tackle concepts that will enable them to perform complex algebraic computations in the future. Algebra has always been one of my favorite subjects to do and teach. There are always so many different ways to find the value of an unknown variable and I love that all of them always come to the same conclusion. My students always tell me that I am very good at breaking down a complex problem into small steps, and the process of solving an algebra problem lends itself w [more]

I've been teaching in various forms over the past eight years, and nothing has been more meaningful and exciting for me than helping students grow as independent learners! As part of my teaching philosophy, I don't just give students the answers - I ask questions to help guide them towards the solution using the concepts they know and the information they're given in each problem. After students develop a strong foundation, I've found that they have greater confidence in their own abilities ... [more]

First off, a bit about me: I was born in Bulgaria but have lived here in Lexington over fifteen years. I attended Julius Marks Elementary, Winburn Middle, and Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, where I also graduated from MSTC (the Math, Science and Technology Center). I'm currently a Computer Science Major and Math Minor at the University of Kentucky's School of Engineering, expecting to graduate December 2018 with a 3.9 GPA. This is my second degree; I graduated Summa Cum Laude from UK wit... [more]

Hello, my name is Aidan S. I'm currently a student at BCTC in Lexington where I have completed Calculus 1-4 with A's. I hope to transfer to a 4-year University where I will complete my degrees in Physics and Mathematics. I began my tutoring experience at BCTC where I worked for their on-campus tutoring center. After one semester of this, I transit... [more]

I have tutored Pre-algebra for 7 years now. It is not the math that confuses people, it is poor explanation given as to why do we need to know algebra and how can we apply it in real life. I graduated in May of 2015 with honors from Earlham College with degrees in Biochemistry and Politics. Currently, I work at University of Kentucky, at Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center. I am exposed to science on daily basis, and therefore believe I can be a great inspiration and motivation for students who struggle. I was Teaching Assistant for 3.5 years and have worked in academic enrichment [more]

I believe firmly that anyone can learn anything - and enjoy it! It all comes down to how the subject is presented. Consequently, my teaching philosophy centers on two key objectives: First, I work with the student and his/her particular interests to discover an approach to the material that makes learning the subject at hand fun, exciting and enjoyable. It is much easier to do something you like than to do something you hate. Secondly, I strive to present all material in the simplest and most... [more]

Hello, I am a UK student majoring in Mathematics. I am early in the phase of major studies, but have been asked by classmates in college Algebra to tutor them. My tutoring students have been very pleased with the attention that I provided. They were able to accomplish what they thought was not possible at the start. I really enjoy working with those who say that they dislike math. I have a very patient approach. I enjoy working one-on-one with students, giving them the attention that is nee... [more]

I have taught every grade level from five through twelve in math with nineteen years experience teaching math. I have also taught undergraduate college math courses from 2009 through 2015. I have done ESS through the public schools and several private tutoring jobs over the years. I prefer Algebra 1, Geometry, Pre-Algebra equally. I prefer the first three over Algebra 2. I'm fine with ACT prep but please understand it takes more frequent meetings to gain a lot of ground in comparison to... [more]
