My approach to Prealgebra is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. Once I assess a students Math IQ, I put them into the appropriate starting position along the progressive math highway to success. I do this through a set of uniquely written practice problems and exercises that I can send off the clock that are designed to increase overall Math IQ. I also have check point quizzes so if given enough time I can show a tangible record of progression. I have been successfu [more]

Let's start with why I love tutoring. The most important reason is that my life experiences have taught me that almost nothing is beyond anyone's grasp, as long as they truly desire to learn it and have a teacher who believes in them. I enjoy being that teacher. While I am new to this platform, I have been teaching and tutoring in some fashion for over 30 years, starting with being a Calculus tutor for undergraduates when I was in graduate school. I have been the math teacher at 2 charter... [more]

I have taught from k thru 12. I taught 7th grade Special Ed. for two years. I am patient. As a Grinnell graduate in English Literature, I particularly enjoy helping translate story problems into mathematical numbers and terms. From GRE Rate/Work problems to Pre-Algebra operations of equality, I like to empower the student with an open mind and with a 'can-do' attitude. I have taught with DPS, from kindergarten to Honors 12th grade English. I have tutored from pre-algebra to Algebra 2 and Geometry for students at Cass Tech., Dunkel Middle School, Farmington High School, Levy Middle... [more]
