I have helped many students improve their prealgebra skills and be prepared for Algebra I. I have a Masters in Mathematics Education from Southern Arkansas University. I have taught math for over 10 years on a variety of levels. From 5th grade math all the way to university level math, I love teaching the basics as well as algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. Math is more than just memorizing formulas; math is about critical thinking and problem solving skills. During my 10+ years of teaching experience, I have helped students raise math ACT scores significantly, imp... [more]

Math (Prealgebra) isn't as scary as most people think. I know this because I used to be terrified of the subject. A lot of it had to do with the old way of teaching. Thankfully, a lot has changed. I grew up in the Midwest and studied civil and architectural engineering in college, where I helped my classmates with their math problems. I realized it was something I enjoyed doing and started tutoring anyone who needed the help. I liked making people feel comfortable with math and boosting their confidence in their own abilities. Watching students catch on to things and succeed in their classes was very rewarding and encouraged me to keep tutoring. Over the past 10 years, I've tutore... [more]

The method I have found works best is to have the student try to identify why the class is not going well. Often students get behind and get frustrated... [more]
