I have helped many students improve their prealgebra skills and be prepared for Algebra I. I have a Masters in Mathematics Education from Southern Arkansas University. I have taught math for over 10 years on a variety of levels. From 5th grade math all the way to university level math, I love teaching the basics as well as algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. Math is more than just memorizing formulas; math is about critical thinking and problem solving skills. During my 10+ years of teaching experience, I have helped students raise math ACT scores significantly, imp... [more]

I am a graduate of Tulane University where I received my BS and MS in Neuroscience. During completion of these degrees, I undertook rigorous coursework in mathematics and biological sciences, including courses on the philosophy of science and mathematical modeling. I have extensive tutoring experience and have worked with Sylvan Learning Center, volunteered at local schools as a tutor, and met with students for one-on-one tutoring. I also have a small personal library of education and peda... [more]

Hello, I'm an enthusiastic tutor who can respond to your calls for help in math, reading, writing, editing, test preparation, and more. I consistently benefit from the good habits I formed throughout my school years. I have earned a M.S. in Workforce Training and Development, a MBA, and a B.M. in audio recording. My daily focus remains on leading k12 and higher education students through their academic challenges, and I incorporate study skills in any lesson where I see them as needed. Th... [more]

I grew up in the Midwest and studied civil and architectural engineering in college, where I helped my classmates with their math problems. I realized it was something I enjoyed doing and started tutoring anyone who needed the help. I liked making people feel comfortable with math and boosting their confidence in their own abilities. Watching students catch on to things and succeed in their classes was very rewarding and encouraged me to keep tutoring. Over the past 10 years, I've tutore... [more]

I have taught and tutored Pre-Algebra for more than 40 years. I am familiar with content standards for this subject. I also use the online math programs like MathXL that many schools use in their classes. I have been teaching for 40 years and I still love it. For a student to be successful in the classroom, he or she needs to feel confident in the subject matter. I can give you that confidence. Over the years, I have tutored many students and enjoy the one-to-one learning environment. I currently teach Algebra 2, Precalculus, and College Algebra and Trigonometry. I have taught and tutored [more]

I've always excelled academically, and I have a passion for sharing that experience with others. There is no greater thrill for me than the satisfaction of a job well-done. While completing both my Bachelor's and Master's of Arts in a single four-year timespan, I learned the value of hard work, time management, and most importantly, having a fantastic support system. I would not have achieved what I did without the help of my teachers and advisors, and now I want to pass that on to others. M... [more]

Kumon Math and Reading Center was my first tutoring job. Kumon helps students get academically ahead of their peers in their regular schools. Because of this, students have confronted me with Kumon math assignments on material that they have not yet learned in their regular schools. It was my responsibility to teach them these new concepts. I have also worked with ESL and special needs students at Kumon. I have worked with Kumon for three years. I have also been self-employed as a priva... [more]

I have 5+ years teaching Pre-Algebra to 9th graders. I love tutoring because, as an alumnae to the TRIO program, I understand the importance of having a supportive, impactful team to support you in every step of your academic journey. I am one to celebrate when another succeeds; I become elated as if it were me. I love seeing others prosper and become successful especially in mathematics. The moment when the student experiences "the light bulb going on", the student and I share a praise dance and await our next victory dance moment. [more]

"If it were easy, everyone would do it." Math isn't easy. Maybe for a precious few it's easy (and even for them there are some problems that are too hard to crack!), but for most of us it takes lots of practice. I'd put myself in the latter category. I consider myself fortunate to be able to go to college and study math for four years. I graduated magna cum laude with high honors in computer science. Never in high school did I think I would study math (I thought I was a physics or English guy... [more]

While at UNO pursuing a Secondary Math Education Degree I taught remedial algebra to college students. Later I switched over to Electrical Engineering. Hi, "My Turning Point Struggle with Math" I am Martin. I am an Electrical Engineer. When I started UNO, my ACT score placed me in remedial math. In my defiance of this placement, I received permission by the Dean to skip remedial math and take my first college algebra course. I ended up failing, having to retake, and failing again. The study skills I used in high school did not work at the university level and I was not as good at math a [more]
