I tutored after school for my last two years in High School. While I was attending University of Central Florida, I also did online tutoring specifically for math subjects. I know that I can teach this difficult subject in the simplest ways. Everyone I have helped told me they were surprised at how easy it is once I explain it to them. I love that I am able to teach a subject that seems difficult to most. I really want to get back into tutoring partly because I know the best way to lea... [more]

Undergraduate degree in mathematics, teaching Pre-algebra and Algebra at Becker, and Swainston Middle school. I am practiced in prealgebra, and I spend my time helping other students with their math problems by breaking them down into understandable steps. I have graduated college with a degree in Liberal Studies, which gives me a wide breadth of topics that I have learned about, from arithmetic to theater. I have been certified with a 30-day emergency substitute teacher credential and taken many post-graduate courses towards elementary teaching. I have spent over a year volunteering my time in classrooms (lower elementary levels). I believe learning can be fun. Curiosity and discovery are in ou [more]

I taught Prealgebra CSN and High school - Eldorado . The nice thing about Prealgebra is that most students are not afraid to ask questions. They want to understand the next class. The are still trying to determine how they learn learn. Many times at this point, they are in a class with students with similar abilities instead of grouped by age. Students that get these basic facts, usually do well in Algebra + . Studies have shown and my experience, that the students that get behind get discouraged. Intervene now with students that do not know their basic facts; multiplication, adding [more]

Greetings, Personal development is a process that occurs at every stage of one?s life and allows one to realize a potential that arises within the heart of our boldest dreams. Tutoring offers a profound level of engagement, wherein both the student and the tutor define and refine goals along their pursuit of excellence. I agree with Howard Gardner?s conclusion that there are multiple learning styles, yet seek to define an accurate means to appeal to a student?s learning style in a man... [more]

My name is Jerry and I've been tutoring all levels of HS and college Math and Physics for the past 7 years. I enjoy helping students, and my students like the way I explain hard to understand concepts in Math and Physics. I believe in a "simplistic" approach to teaching Math and Physics. I strive to teach Math and Physics without a lot of theoretical jargon and I teach a methodical approach to solving problems. While at the University of Arizona, I majored in Nuclear Engineering; I have a... [more]

Prealgebra is the preparation needed for Algebra. I show the student the many necessary steps to find "X" with some handouts that show the exact steps necessary to find it. The student need to follow these steps in the exact sequence, but in the end will always find the solution. I love Algebra and all my students tell me that my methods make it easier for them to learn and not fear Algebra. I have taught math and financial planning for 14 years at the University of Phoenix at Las Vegas. I love to teach and tutor students in Math. The process of learning the necessary steps of solving proble [more]

I have had so many experiences in my career but have realized that there is nothing quite like the moment when a child looks at me and says, "I got it". It may take days, even months, but that's when teaching is an experience. It's when the student and I strive to reach that goal of understanding. I have been fortunate enough to have seen this many times. I worked in 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades in the regular classroom for many years, but I also taught students in their homes for several year...
