Hi, my name is Rachel, and I love to help students understand what they're learning in school. As a graduate of Biola University, I have found myself in a position to help students with what they do not understand. While at college, I spent some of my free time (when not working at the campus bookstore and doing my own homework) tutoring students in the local community. Since then, I have had the opportunity to regularly help students both with their homework and to help them learn concepts t... [more]

As a math minor I have a strong math background. During the years I worked the University of Washington, Inroads and the King County work study program, I both tutored students in prealgebra and helped them through math workshops. This can be an age where a lot of students either come to hate math or start to think it's kind of fun. I can tell you, if it's fun, the next many years of it will be a lot easier! I've worked with students of all ages. I spent 5 years working at the University of Washington in the Computer Science Department helping pre-majors with Math and Computer Science co [more]

I taught for 5 years in traditional classrooms, home-schooled for 19 years, and have been tutoring the past three years. My BA is in Elementary Education, but I have home-schooled all the way through high school. I have taught all of the basic subjects. I understand that each student is unique with a different set of skills, interests, and abilities. It takes a combination of creativity and getting to know how each student is wired in order to help them to be successful. Each individual ... [more]

I have always been above average at math. I finished 2 years of calculus in high school (during which I tutored some class mates) but I'm also aware that gifts come on a spectrum. I've been given great opportunities that allow me to better connect with people that I am working with and don't make them feel bad. For example, I was in my second year of calculus at 17 years old. For many people who struggle at math, that would be intimidating, but a 12 year old taught the class. I've also worked... [more]

I'm a mathematics major at PSU and work regularly with algebraic math and also have a my own ways to approach problems that might be extremely beneficial to his learning. I am a current Mathematics Major aiming for a PhD in mathematics. My main goal for my education as an extension of my style of learning is based around Analytic and Geometric visualizations of mathematical concepts. My goal down the road is to create a program which focuses on helping students grapple with Mathematical ideas and concepts that are better explained through visualization and doing this through a VR which can sho [more]
