I am a graduate of Le Moyne College (Syracuse, NY) where I majored in biology and minored in chemistry and philosophy. At Le Moyne College I tutored in the Academic Support Center and conducted one on one tutoring sessions in math and the natural sciences. In the years following my graduation I tutored for Le Moyne College's Liberty Partnership Program and Science and Technology Entry Program. These programs brought tutors into Syracuse City High Schools during the school day and provided tut... [more]

I am available for the 2018-19 school year. My availability is limited to afternoons and early evenings, during the week, however. This is the best year to start tutoring. The problem your child may have is not serious yet. This is the time when your child becomes friend with numbers. He/she needs to familiarize himself/herself relationships between numbers. When I say relationships between numbers, I mean like 48 is divisible by 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, 24, 48. Then if your child see an addition of fraction where denominators are different, it's very easy to find the least common multiple. Mathematics can be so much fun you get to know numbers well. [more]

I am a skilled tutor with more than 5,000 hours of experience tutoring or teaching. I studied a variety of fields, while pursuing my Chemical Engineering degree. I became a tutorial instructor, because I am excited to see people learn. I was a tutor, through college. I always studied for depth with the intent to teach what I learned. It is common for my students to laugh during study sessions. I was voted the most inspirational student by my senior year band class. For every semester that I ... [more]

I started teaching prealgebra in 1984, my very first teaching job. I had a split 7/8th grade class. Since that time, I've tutored and taught prealgebra for many years. It is delightful to prepare students for the algebra series and other upper level math topics. I have a Master's in Teaching and teaching certification in math and English. I started my work out of college as a middle school teacher. Then, I worked in business world to learn how knowledge is used outside the academic environment. It helped prepare me to teach students what lies ahead after school. Wanting to learn new cul [more]

Numerous successes in school and many years of work experiences as a supervisor prepared me to do well as a tutor. At my high school, two out of three years, I ranked in the top three on the national math test. While in college I did extremely well in subjects in which attention to detail was critical. More than one instructor requested my help in proofreading and editing mathematics or computer science textbooks. In the workplace, I was promoted to Service Manager and given many workers t... I specialize in standardized tests, especially SAT, ACT and LSAT. Although I generally consider myself a mathematician, having studied and taught philosophy at UW for seven years, I also have developed effective communication and pedagogical skills that make me unusually qualified to provide thorough and well-rounded approaches to each of these tests. My background is particularly well-suited to the LSAT, insofar as the field of philosophy is laden with both formal and informal logic, stric... [more]

I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, came to the United States for college, and recently graduated as the top 3.5% students with a cumulative GPA of 3.82 from the University of Washington Foster School of Business with a degree in Accounting. I have a strong interest for numbers; I took five math classes just for fun in my freshman year, including the Calculus Series and Matrix Algebra, and passed all of them with an average GPA of 3.96. I can tutor elementary school math, Prealgebra, Algebra I, a... [more]
