I am a second year at University of South Florida. My major is chemistry, which happens to be my favorite subject in the whole world! I also have a couple hobbies such as drawing, longboarding and playing with dogs. I have Tom's that have the periodic table printed on them so I can carry chemistry with me everywhere. I knew I wanted to major in chemistry since I was a sophomore in high school level, because I loved it! I also took college level chemistry classes in Chemistry to help further m... [more]

For more than 12 years I have been tutoring math, including Prealgebra. The school year is at a point where good grades are more critical . And it is more obvious that your student or you need help. Rather than procrastinate any longer and get into difficulty with a subject, why not consider a tutor to help smooth out these anxious moments and begin on a path to grade improvement. It is preferable to deal with these issues before the grades are unable to be improved as much. Or if you are studying for the SAT or ACT or PERT , I have had great success with ... [more]

I have tutored multiple students in Prealgebra. All of them have shown increased test scores and understanding of the material. I worked with several students over a long period of time and my help allowed them to gain an understanding of the material and develop an interest in math. My current Master's program at USF also has covered this topic. I currently am a Middle School Math Teacher in the Public School System. I hold a B.A. from Brandeis University in Massachusetts and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Florida for Mathematics. At 13 I first took the SAT an [more]

Thank you for looking into my profile. I am eager to tutor just a few students at this time. The specifics: I strive to be professionally competent, punctual, reliable, and prepared. I have eleven years of experience with students of all ages. Although math and science are my specialties, I hope for my students to excel in all subjects. I tutor algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus often enough that a textbook is not necessary for lessons. I encourage "mental math" and discourage cal... [more]

I have taught pre-algebra and algebra so I understand the skills necessary to prepare for algebra and the classes that follow in the next school years. I love learning and helping students develop a life long love for learning. As a middle and high school science and math teacher for the past 14 years, I have helped hundreds of students overcome a dislike of math and science. I believe that if students can begin to gain confidence in their skills and see improvement, it can make a difference in their attitudes towards school. The best part of my job as a teacher was seeing kids who once strug [more]

Based upon my teaching experiences, I believe EVERYBODY can learn math to at least the pre-algebra level. I take the first lesson to listen to the student speak about his/her frustrations and "failures" and to go over basic math... to determine his/her level and weaknesses. In this first lesson, I will also reteach some of the basics that most teachers assume the student already knows. If the student is currently in pre-algebra, I teach from the student's book, as well as augment it with problems and handouts of my own. I will explain concepts in multiple ways, until one clicks.
