Hi, I?m Matthew. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor?s degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. In all of my classes there was a heavy focus on biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics as well as a focus on critical thinking and problem solving skills. I?ve found that my experience with a class is almost entirely determined by the professor and teaching assistants as opposed to the material covered. A good teacher can make the world of diff... I taught algebra for two years at a Denver Public high school and have another three years experience tutoring basic math through calculus at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Red Rocks Community College. The SAT is heavily focused on algebra and I scored a 790 on the math section (top 1%). My first formal employment as a tutor was during my studies for engineering. This experience teaching fellow students inspired my pursuit of a career in education and I taught for six years at two Denver Public Schools. While I enjoyed the work, I preferred tutoring. I find tutoring to be more rewar [more]

The first splash into the waters of variable mathematics. Perfect the building blocks of math and put fuel in your tank so that you can soar to great heights in math. I have taught Algebra through Pre-Calculus for 5 years and tutored all levels of college math for 4 years. I enjoy helping a student see the fun and excitement in learning that he or she can be good at math. Many times there are several ways to reach a solution to a math problem. I help a student find their best route.... [more]

Hi, I?m Andrew! I received a Bachelor's degree and graduated with distinction from the University of Colorado Boulder. I was a double major in Biochemistry and Integrative Physiology and completed a certificate in public health. For me, the most rewarding feeling in school was finally understanding a difficult topic. Once a subject ?clicked,? everything before then made sense, and everything after came much easier. Sometimes these ?clicking moments? came naturally and early in a course, but o... [more]

I have had a successful career in the academic science field, studying, researching, and tutoring in chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and molecular biology. As I have now left the academic research world, I find myself greatly missing the interaction with students as I trained them in the field. Taking students under my training was one of my favorite parts of working in an academic setting and I am a strong proponent of science education and outreach. I am looking forward to recon... I am an experienced high school math teacher and tutor who has worked with students from 6-12th grades, having taught or tutored nearly every level of math from pre-algebra through AP Calculus (algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, trigonometry pre-calculus, probability and statistics, SAT and ACT prep). When I was a student I experienced struggles in math, and so I know the value and importance of having a patient and understanding tutor to help gain mastery. Patience, understanding, and thorou... I received my Bachelor's degree in Physiological Science at UCLA, and my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at A.T Still University in Arizona. I currently work as a physical therapist with children, and enjoy tutoring in my free time. I have always enjoyed tutoring and leading study groups throughout my education. I like to make learning fun, and like to teach with fun and creative teaching styles, including mnemonics, songs, and raps. I am able to cater my teaching style to each student's i... [more]

I've worked in the analytical software business for a number of years, and have trained software engineers for Fortune 500 companies worldwide. I have extensive practical experience with using math and science for software applications. I have run a software consulting business for over 15 years. I have taught computer science courses for CU/Boulder and Red Rocks Community College. I have B.S. degrees in computer science and physics from Colorado State University. So...why be a tutor? I... Ive tutored 7th and 8th grade math at Jefferson High School, including Prealgebra concepts. I've boiled my methods down to establishing a firm foundation for learning that doesn't get forgotten. Confidence is one of the most important aspects of academic achievement. I build student confidence by asking questions and creating a scaffold for students to learn with. This formula encourages students to take an active role in their learning. When students find the answers themselves, they are much more likely to remember those answers when they need them, be it on the ACT or in college courses. On [more]

Having taught 7th and 8th grade math using Common Core standards (Thunder Ridge Middle School, Centennial) revealed the knowledge gap most students experience. I have learned multiple models to explain concepts that accommodate various learning styles. Finally putting my job aside to pursue my passion, I left engineering and completed both a Math degree (Dean's list) and a secondary math teaching license in 2013. I tutored my way through school and students, at a minimum, raised one letter grade. Most importantly they gained an appreciation of learning how to think, as I guide them through a [more]
