Pre-calculus is the gate-keeper course for transition to calculus, and is therefore as important as calculus itself for those intending or needing to study higher mathematics. Typically it includes a review of basic algebra topics; various types of functions--including trigonometric and polynomial; series; limits; and an introduction to vectors. Most troubles with introductory calculus are traceable to an inadequate mastery of algebra and trigonometry. I am an experienced high school physics and mathematics teacher, retired, with current Massachusetts certification in both areas. I have taugh [more]

I am a certified math and physics teacher and have taught all grades and levels of high school math, including precalculus. Precalculus often consists of trigonometry, along with a number of topics that is expanded upon in calculus courses. Some of these topics, such as complex numbers, DeMoivre's Theorem, and limits, represent a higher level of abstraction than some students may have seen in their previous math courses. I was a physics major in college, which included four years of calculus and advanced math courses. After college, I worked as an engineer and used much of this material [more]

I've been tutoring math and physics to high-school and middle-school students in the Canton, Dedham, Sharon, Norwood and Stoughton area for fifteen years. I've tutored nearly all the students I've worked with for many years, and I've also frequently tutored their brothers and sisters - also for many years. I enjoy helping my students to understand and realize that they can not only do the work - they can do it well and they can understand what they're doing. My references will gladly provi... [more]

I have ten years of experience as a teacher, and have been a dedicated private tutor since 2013. I've worked with many wonderful students who are constantly teaching me that there's a different "best teaching strategy" for every learner. The modern classroom doesn't serve the needs of all students. Too many students believe that they ar... [more]
