Hello potential students! First off, if you are having trouble in math class know that you are not alone, and that it's never too late to improve your understanding! I specialize in finding the right way to explain things to my students. I've been tutoring for about 8 years now, and in my experience I've found all different sorts of approaches that I'd love to share with you. My own mathematics background started early in school- I've always had a knack for it, and I've kept with it. I have... [more]

For the past 17 years, with great success and satisfaction, I taught all subjects to high school students at a small, non-traditional private school in Denver. In addition, afternoon and evening hours were spent working individually with students of all types in credit accrual, subject tutoring, and test preparation. I teach Math including Algebra, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus; All science except advanced Physics; any history, and test preparation for college entrance exams or GED, includi... [more]

Calculus can be fun, if you have a strong foundation in algebra and precalculus concepts. I can help you understand these concepts fully, so that taking the next step will also be a breeze. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, and I am an active volunteer in my son's advanced math class. I have worked as a tutor for children of all ages and abilities, as well as adults, both one-on-one and in groups. My goal as a tutor is not just to help you with rote learning, but to help you understand the underlying logic of the correct answer so you can succeed when a question or subject takes [more]

I have taught pre-calculus in the classroom as well as tutored students in the subject. The students whom I have worked with generally comprise a wide range of ability levels (including those who struggle with basic algebra skills). Students who have worked with me have reported increased skills and positive learning outcomes after taking my class in this subject. My tutoring method is inquiry-based and consists of asking the students questions to draw out pre-existing knowledge, then refining the questions to isolate which specific steps in the problem-solving process are causing confusion. I have always loved problem solving and have used algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus throughout my career in software engineering. I am now helping my own kids learn these useful tools for understanding and solving simple and complex math problems. It is a real pleasure to see the "light bulb" go off when they finally realize how to understand and solve what was just recently an incomprehensible problem. My formal education was in Mathematics, especially applied Mathematics. I have spent the last 35 years in the Software Engineering field, including 6 years with Apple computer. [more]

Growing up in a third world country, I was one of the fortunate ones to be able to get education in a missionary school, where my Scottish maths teacher inspired and motivated me to learn maths in a very fun way. Maths is really fun if you learn to solve the problems. I loved my high school maths, which lead me to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree and with lot of hard work and determination I did achieve my degree and now I work for a small local company in Boulder. ... I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a B.S. degree in chemistry, with a specialization in biochemistry. I completed two years of undergraduate research in a biochemistry research lab working on enzyme kinetics and bacterial antibiotic resistance. I did complete graduate level biochemistry courses as an undergraduate and was on the Dean's List for a few semesters. I have been published on two separate papers as a fourth author and second author in Cell Chemical Biology and J. Bacteriology ... [more]

I tutored PreCalc in the Ozone program at Boulder High and have continued doing so for the last five years. It is a subject that spans the entire spectrum of Math in High School, and it has been a real treat to help students understand the big picture. Finally putting my job aside to pursue my passion, I left engineering and completed both a Math degree (Dean's list) and a secondary math teaching license in 2013. I tutored my way through school and students, at a minimum, raised one letter grade. Most importantly they gained an appreciation of learning how to think, as I guide them through [more]

I started tutoring when I was in high school, about 30 years ago. I studied engineering and business at an Ivy League school. I then became an attorney. I enjoy helping students learn. I periodically tutor students when I have time in a variety of subjects for which I have a strong aptitude. Mostly, I have tutored math, science and history classes. ... [more]
