I have taught pre-calculus in the classroom as well as tutored students in the subject. The students whom I have worked with generally comprise a wide range of ability levels (including those who struggle with basic algebra skills). Students who have worked with me have reported increased skills and positive learning outcomes after taking my class in this subject. My tutoring method is inquiry-based and consists of asking the students questions to draw out pre-existing knowledge, then refining the questions to isolate which specific steps in the problem-solving process are causing confusion. Calculus can be fun, if you have a strong foundation in algebra and precalculus concepts. I can help you understand these concepts fully, so that taking the next step will also be a breeze. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, and I am an active volunteer in my son's advanced math class. I have worked as a tutor for children of all ages and abilities, as well as adults, both one-on-one and in groups. I tutored PreCalc in the Ozone program at Boulder High and have continued doing so for the last five years. It is a subject that spans the entire spectrum of Math in High School, and it has been a real treat to help students understand the big picture. Finally putting my job aside to pursue my passion, I left engineering and completed both a Math degree (Dean's list) and a secondary math teaching license in 2013. I tutored my way through school and students, at a minimum, raised one letter grade. Most importantly they gained an appreciation of learning how to think, as I guide them through [more]

I'm currently a precalculus tutor in a college math lab, tutoring center, and student success center. I've been tutoring and teaching college algebra through calculus for close to ten years now and have helped many students understand the material in a step by step way. My educational background is a thorough mix of chemistry, physics, and mathematics. As an undergraduate I had opportunities to tutor and TA chemistry and physics courses as a chem/physics double major, pursue independent studies in applied mathematics, and do original research in spectroscopy that was eventually published. Hello! My name is Ryan, and I'm a senior at CU Boulder studying Applied Mathematics and Environmental Studies. From middle school through high school I had an amazing tutor who became a lifelong friend, so I understand the dynamic between a student and their teacher. My foundation on the fundamental principles of mathematics is rock solid, and my goal is to help my students/clients foster a passion for mathematics like I have. I'm an easy-going guy looking to ease the cost of my tuition and... [more]

I was then hired by the ULL Athletic Department to help fellow... [more]

Growing up in a third world country, I was one of the fortunate ones to be able to get education in a missionary school, where my Scottish maths teacher inspired and motivated me to learn maths in a very fun way. Maths is really fun if you learn to solve the problems. I loved my high school maths, which lead me to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree and with lot of hard work and determination I did achieve my degree and now I work for a small local company in Boulder. ... I started tutoring when I was in high school, about 30 years ago. I studied engineering and business at an Ivy League school. I then became an attorney. I enjoy helping students learn. I periodically tutor students when I have time in a variety of subjects for which I have a strong aptitude. Mostly, I have tutored math, science and history classes. ... [more]
