Precalculus expands on the foundations of algebra 2 and trigonometry. They are used as the backbone for having the student learn about functions -- both as algebraic expressions and as visual graphs. This work expects a student to have good mathematical fluency in algebra 2 and trigonometry. I am adept at assessing students who are challenged with precalculus, and then setting them on a course to success. I have tutored a wide range of students in the [algebra 2 /trigonometry] > [precalculus] > [calculus] sequence so I am tuned into those topics and processes that students may need help o [more]

I am a highly successful high school physics and earth science teacher and tutor since 1996. I have been certified to teach physics and earth science/geosciences in three states including California. Courses that I have taught include Conceptual Physics, General Physics, Honors Physics, Advanced Placement Physics (both Calculus and non-Calculus based), Advanced Topics in Physics, Astronomy, Earth Science/Geoscience, Meteorology, Oceanography, Algebra Readiness, Algebra I, Algebra II and Pre... Core concepts in Pre-Calculus include algebra in the coordinate plane, system of equations, roots of polynomials, functions & their inverses such as polynomials & rational functions, exponential & log functions, and an introduction to trigonometry, with some variations among different Pre-Calculus textbooks. It also includes a review of major topics in Algebra II in the beginning chapters. My strength in tutoring math is two folded. One the one hand, I can put abstract math simple enough for all students to comprehend and on the other hand, I have the methodology to help students, who lack pr [more]

I'm a graduate of U.C. Berkeley (Chemistry) and Stanford (M.S., Chemistry), and I've taught in high school and university classrooms and tutored privately since 1992. When I was at Stanford, my students gave me a teaching (T.A.) rating of 4.93/5.00, and I'm currently credentialed as a science and math teacher. While I was designing the ACT prep class at Oklahoma Christian School, a student asked me to help him get a perfect score of 36. One of my other students spoke up, saying, ?Your teache... [more]

Precalculus is a difficult course and different schools cover different subject matter. I have come in contact with a number of these courses both in my own education and while tutoring. Thanks to my experience and my degree in math I am well prepared for any of these classes, whether they focus on limits, trigonometry, advanced algebra, probability or other subjects. I am an experienced math teacher and tutor with 4 years teaching experience (1 high school including Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II, and 3 middle school including Pre-Algebra and Algebra I) and 7 years tutoring math (grade 1 [more]

I am currently a tutor for the Princeton Review, have taught at UCLA (TA), and have 11+ years of private tutoring experience working with tutoring companies in addition to test prep companies. I specialize in tutoring high school, middle, elementary, college, and adult students to prepare them for matriculation to the best universities/colleges/graduate programs and private middle/high schools possible. I stand as one of the top tutors on Wyzant in the U.S. and Bay Area (hours-per-month & ra... [more]

I graduated from UC Davis with a degree in chemistry and I have over 8 years of tutoring exprience, substituting teaching and working in a group setting at a learning center. I tutor adults and children of all ages. I developed a passion for science early on and want to help others get excited about learning and pursuing careers in STEM. I don?t believe in simply memorizing steps to the problem, therefore I begin with basic concepts to tackle the topic and build on that, as well as apply conc... [more]

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, from Algebra to Geometry and Precalculus to Differential Equations. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: As an undergraduate student at Florida International University (FIU) from 2001 to 2005, I often found myself tutoring my study groups in several subject areas, from Biochemistry to advanced Calculus, which greatly helped my performance in each class. By my senior year, I obtained a t [more]

I'm a UC Berkeley Engineering Graduate, currently employed as a professional engineer by the State of California. I can tutor math, physics, chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering. Also, I can assist students in test prep, particularly the math sections of all standardized tests, as well as AP and SAT subject tests in selected disciplines. Extensive experience tutoring at the high school level with Making Waves Education Program, and at the college level for the UC Berkeley ... [more]
