I have twenty years experience as a classroom teacher, teaching secondary mathematics. I also have seven years experience in private tutoring, tutoring students in Prealgebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus and SAT math. Questions are always welcome.... [more]

I routinely use the content of precalculus courses in my upper-level math and physics courses. Many of the students I tutor either have questions about this class or require occasional reminders on how to apply this content to their other math and science courses. I am a senior graduating this fall with a double major in physics and math from the University of Houston Clear Lake. I am an active participant in the UHCL Astronomy Club and president of the Physics Club. I speak fluent Norwegian and English. I started tutoring seven years ago. My tutoring experience includes working for Numberwor [more]

I loved teaching Precalculus in the high school setting and College Algebra & Trig in the college setting for many years. I also taught the courses that precede and follow Precal in the curriculum sequence. This helps me assess pre-requisite skills needed for student success and important concepts for student mastery to assure success at the next level. I love math and helping students understand and apply what they are learning. I taught high school and college mathematics for more than 30 years and have tutored students individually throughout that time. I work to understand at the stude [more]

I know of no course that is a more important prerequisite to the courses that follow it than Precalculus is to Calculus. I have tutored Calculus for years and have seen people struggle painfully because of an inadequate Precalculus background. Most either let too much time elapse between their Precalculus and Calculus courses, or simply did not do well enough at Precalculus. This is a very important course, and I invite you to let me help you do as well as you possibly can in it! I taught it several times in grad school, and I've tutored several students in it as well. I am a mathematics tutor with a Master's of Science in Applied Statistics and a PhD in Statistics. I have 10 years' experience tutoring in math (not counting helping out friends in high school). My goal is always to find the root of the lack of understanding that a student has and to work to correct it, and then later on continue to provide reinforcement to those ideas. I look forward to working with you. NOTE: I cannot tutor UIW students.... [more]

"Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning do to do afterward." - Kurt Vonnegut The relationship between the student and tutor is so important for student success. By creating an environment of acceptance, making progress becomes easier. I have taught 6-13th grade Math for 15 years including Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, College Algebra, and College Pre-Algebra. Additionally... [more]

I enjoy teaching all levels of math. Pre-calculus will give you the background you need to understand calculus and open the doors to many important applications and careers. Calculus truly gives one a new way to look at and understand the world. I love to share "Aha" moments with my students! I have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston. I taught both classes and labs while a graduate student and continued to teach Electrical Engineering at UH for 14 years after graduation. I am proud of the high scores I earned in the student evaluations that were administered by t [more]
