I excelled in my own precalculus coursework, and have been tutoring students in this subject for several years. Hi! Math is all around us, and I believe that we all need to know how to use it in our daily lives. Unfortunately, math can be mysterious and difficult to understand at times. Sometimes a little extra explanation, or some additional guided practice, is needed to grasp a new concept, and that is where I can help. Because I feel so strongly about the importance of math skills, I am passionate about helping students overcome their math challenges and I would love to help you too. I w [more]

I discovered my preference for teaching and helping those that struggle with understanding concepts during my graduate work. I have a passion for learning and for learning the most effective routes for concept building. This is the basis of how I structure my tutoring sessions regardless of subject. I believe that conceptual understanding followed by appropriate application of learned tools for maneuvering within the concept is the key to learning and internalizing a subject as opposed to ro... I've taught math for the last 12 years. My experience has been at the middle school and high school levels. I currently hold a credential to teach mathematics at all levels through AP Calculus. I have taught several sections of Pre-Calculus at the high school level. I am a graduate of UC San Diego with a degree in Management Science and a minor in Art. I have a Master of Education from UC San Diego with credentials to teach Mathematics and Physics. I have supplemental credentials to also teach Business, Economics, and Art. As a high school student I scored 790 on my SAT Math, 800 on my S [more]

I have BS in electrical and electronic engineering, so I studied lots of math and physics and still taking classes on embedded engineering in UCSD. I'm a professional in Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Calculus and Physics especially the parts which relate to electrical engineering (analog and digital circuits analysis, solid state physics, signal processing and electromagnetic field). I have more than 5 years experience in teaching students different math subjects, such as: Limits, Integr... [more]

Mathematics, Chemistry, and Science take effort to master but you should know that you can do them. The thought processes may be different than what you are used to, but once you become familiar with them, you can prosper in these subjects. I have worked with learners from a wide range of backgrounds. While I cannot say there won't be hard work and effort involved on your part, you can learn, and even enjoy, these subjects. I worked as a research scientist in applying chemistry and mathemati... [more]

As I mentioned in my bio, I took classes at UCLA up to differential equations. For one to succeed in such a class, a solid grasp of algebra and calculus is necessary. The most important concepts are taught in prealgebra through precalculus; these are the fundamentals one must be perfectly comfortable with to succeed, and I believe my understanding of these fundamentals are very strong. I had the pleasure of helping my youngest sister with math throughout her high school experience; she ended up achieving a 5 on her AP Calculus test. [more]

I explain the big picture and how your topic fits in. I will then give you the skills that you'll need and I show you the steps that you'll have to follow to solve your problems. I will then cover any quirky or unusual aspects related to your topic and issues you should be mindful of, areas where instructors like to challenge students. I have a good grasp of the material and enjoy passing it on to the next generation of students. I am very good at teaching beginning factoring and sol... [more]

For the past four years, I have been a tutor at San Diego State University, tutoring in subjects such as Biology, Mathematics (algebra up until calculus), Chemistry, Physics. I myself am a Biology Major at SDSU, studying to go to medical school, and become a Doctor. In high school, I tutored AP calculus, AP biology, AP chemistry. I have also taken Advanced level courses in all the subjects listed above. What I love about tutoring is the ability to aid my students in their lessons, help them... [more]

Having completed AP/IB math up to Calculus I with A's and college math courses (Calculus II with an A and Calculus III with a B), I have the qualifications to teach the upper-level Algebra and Trigonometry to prepare students for Calculus. Teaching Statement: From a personal and professional standpoint, I purposely do not give answers to assignments, quizzes or tests for students. My goals in teaching are to not spoon feed answers to students as that defeats the purpose of practicing Critical Thinking, which is the primary goal of all education. Thus, I practice the Socratic Method of reason [more]
