I absolutely love algebra! I taught it in the public schools for 10 years, at both the high school and middle school levels. I hope after meeting with me, you also would develop a love of algebra. I enjoy helping students have a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes when solving algebraic equations and also the joy of solving for that "mystery number"! I have a 4-year degree in mathematics, plus a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) Degree. I taught for Salem-Keizer Schools for 10 years and am now teaching sixth grade at a private Christian school in town. I love math, however [more]

I am a certified secondary math teacher qualified to teach any math from elementary school through calculus. I taught a precalculus class at Roy High School in Utah while student teaching. Precalculus was the first college math class I took, and I was able to complete the class with no problem and earn an A grade. One of my favorite things to do is to help students get that "Ah, ha!" moment. My first tutoring job helped me decide to pursue teaching as my career. I believe that everyone can learn and it is my job, as a teacher, to find the way the student learns best. The methods that work [more]

My name is Davi, I am originally from Brazil. I am very outgoing and I have over ten years of experience working in customer service, and education. I have been a teacher my whole life, and math has been my favorite subject for quite some time! Although my passion for mathematics, I have held many jobs and learned a great deal of skills throughout my life. Soccer coach and referee, to piano teacher and life guard have been only a few of my professional activities. I have excellent interperson... [more]

I have tutored privately for both a tutoring agency as well as independently in chemistry, mathematics, and statistics. I am interactive with students by asking the students what is unclear about the material, quizzing them on important concepts, and, most important, working with them to solve problems in the textbook. Physical science and math courses are best learned by working problem sets, so that is my emphasis. I am most effective tutoring through the high-school level, through pre-ca... [more]

Over my high-school career, I have tutored several people in math and science areas. By the time I graduate, I will have taken a total of 7 Advanced Placement courses in several different subject areas. I enjoy tutoring math and science and helping people learn to enjoy the subjects. I plan to go to medical school after my undergraduate program, specializing in surgery. When I tutor anybody, it is very important for me to make sure that the student is learning the subject and not just com... [more]

Hi, I'm Brenda B. I've been helping students with their math skills for many years, in several different capacities: as a tutor (10+ years), a middle school teacher (2 years), a high school teacher (2 years), a community college instructor (6 years), and a university instructor (2 years). I work at a public university, teaching lower level math courses, which I love, and I also tutor part-time during summer break. I've done in-person tutoring and online tutoring, and have my own materials... [more]

I studied Economics and Linguistics at the University of Oregon graduate school. I enjoy teaching students and have been tutoring for the last six years. I have taught SAT math, precalculus and calculus to local high school (South Eugene, Sheldon, Churchill and Marist) students, and have taught algebra I & II to local middle school students. For English, I have taught both ESL and regular Language and Art class students as well as SAT writing and Reading comprehension. I am a patien... [more]

I've been a tutor for three years. I got my start tutoring at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, OR, where I worked in the tutoring center helping students with math, physics, chemistry, and writing. During my time at Chemeketa, I took a series of extra classes for tutors, overseen by the Chemeketa Tutoring Department and the College Learning and Reading Association, that certified me as a Master Tutor. I transferred from Chemeketa after getting my AA and attended UC Berkeley with a major ... [more]

Topics like geometry, trigonometry, geometry, statistics, and especially algebra are incredibly practical and useful in everyday life. Precalculus acts as a transition or bridge between these more fundamental mathematical topics, and the mathematics that one encounters when he enters hard science (e.g., calculus, differential equations, etc.). But that can be a hard bridge for some people to cross. My goal is to help the person get across that bridge and keep moving forward. The reality is that, as one advances in mathematics, sometimes it doesn't make perfect sense when first learned, but i [more]
