Hello potential parents and students! My name is Kenneth R., and I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. I attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and I earned a bachelor's degree in Finance. I have been tutoring/teaching high school students at an alternative high school for the past 6 years and I love it! It's very rewarding to bring a drive and compassion to a young hungry mind and see results and progress in a young student eager to excel in their own future. I special... [more]

I took Precalculus in my sophmore year of high school and taught it as a part of a commitment of the math club in the school. I taught kids how to compete in competitions and they came home with 1st and 2nd place from regional and state competitions in math. I am a student at Louisiana State University. I am currently majoring in Finance with a minor in math; I chalk that up to my love for the math. I was apart of many mathematics related organizations during my high school career. Within these organizations, I held the position what we called e-board (Education board). I was a tutor for all m [more]

I have experience in tutoring physics and math courses in both one-on-one and group setting. I have worked as a private tutor as well as an SI leader (as an undergrad). Currently, I am enrolled in LSU's PhD program. Being a physics student myself, I know exactly what to focus on while helping students to get past their problems. I have been described by other students as 'a helpful, open and friendly tutor.'... [more]

I have taught precalculus, algebra and trigonometry at the University of New Orleans with much success many times over the last 32 years. I have also conducted many workshops on precalculus topics for high school teachers . From my perspective, Precalculus completes the formal study of the elementary functions begun in Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. Students focus on the use of technology, modeling, and problem solving involving polynomial, rational, root, trigonometric and circular functions, their inverses, polar coordinates, complex numbers, conics, and quadratic relations. Discrete topics inc [more]

I've tutored regularly for seven years in all levels of math, english, and science. I also have experience working with study skills in professional setting. In January 2016 to May 2016, I co-taught a college-level study skills course. Along with this, I used to lead an ACT study group where three of the four people went up by four points on their ACT score. Since then, I have had the chance to tutor several people in the ACT that have had their composite score go up by at least two points.... [more]

I am a Civil Engineer and have had to take numerous advanced level math courses. I've been tutoring for 10 years with a high success rate. I've been employed by Mathnasium, Universities and private families. The students who came to me with a 'D' average have improved their grade to an 'A'. I instill self confidence in any math subject for all my students who otherwise would feel they could not understand it. My methods entirely depend upon the student I am tutoring. Everyone learns in differ... [more]

I have a PhD in chemical engineering. I give simple examples to explain complex topics. This is the best way for the students to understand the concepts and correlate them to practical problems. It is important that the tutor not only understand the subject, but be able to correlate it to real-world situations, so that the students can understand it better. Often times I have seen that students just remember things without proper understanding of the fundamentals. I think this problem needs t... [more]

Ever since I took my first math course as an undergraduate, I have loved mathematics. It truly is a beautiful subject that I believe everyone has the capacity to understand. I worked as a tutor all through my undergraduate career and continue to do so through my PhD work. I pride myself on being able to identify gaps in a students knowledge and helping them to overcome those gaps. Often times I have found that a student's issues with a current course are tied back to something they missed in ... [more]

I have been tutoring since my high school days (1980-). I am presently a mathematics tutor with another tutoring organization as well. I am also a former mathematics tutor at Mathnasium and a mathematics tutor at South Louisiana Community College. I have over 30 years of mathematics tutoring experience involving middle-school aged to college-level students, preferably in pre-algebra to college algebra. I graduated as class historian (third in my high school class of 650 students) with a gr... [more]
