Whether students love math and science or despise the subjects, I am usually able to make the experience better for them. I explain the material in very understandable ways, and I'm able to pinpoint where a student is struggling and provide specific help where it's needed. I am particularly good at making that beast called Chemistry much less painful to deal with. One of the best compliments I received recently is that one of my students jokingly said to her mom, "I wish I could just go to th... [more]

I started off my college career as a math major. Although that was a long time ago, I have helped several students with their pre-calculus courses. The precalculus student that I helped just last academic year went from getting Cs and Bs in her tests to As. She got an "A" in her last course, and she was extremely happy with the results. Since then, I have continued reviewing pre-calculus material and I expect to do so for a long time - it is a subject I enjoy a great deal. I am now working on learning how to use the graphing calculator (TI-84) for pre-calculus problems. I prefer that students [more]

The many application problems in Pre-calculus and Honors Pre-calculus make these very interesting courses for me. I like to help students understand and appreciate the many phenomena around us that can be modeled using math in these courses. I appreciate the seriousness of these students compared to some other courses. Each Pre-calculus student I?ve had has done well and most have gone on to study Calculus. I have many excellent materials for additional practice which helps to do well in these courses. [more]
