I have taught and tutored Precalculus on the high school and college level for more than 40 years. I am familiar with content standards for this subject. I also use the online math programs like MathXL that many schools use in their classes. I have been teaching for 40 years and I still love it. For a student to be successful in the classroom, he or she needs to feel confident in the subject matter. I can give you that confidence. Over the years, I have tutored many students and enjoy the one-to-one learning environment. I currently teach Algebra 2, Precalculus, and College Algebra and Tri [more]

I am a graduate of Tulane University where I received my BS and MS in Neuroscience. During completion of these degrees, I undertook rigorous coursework in mathematics and biological sciences, including courses on the philosophy of science and mathematical modeling. I have extensive tutoring experience and have worked with Sylvan Learning Center, volunteered at local schools as a tutor, and met with students for one-on-one tutoring. I also have a small personal library of education and peda... [more]

I am enrolled as a PhD student in biostatistics. I currently hold a Master of Science in mathematics (statistics). My areas of expertise are probability and statistics (particularly biostatistics) , high school math (algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus), college math (pre-calculus and calculus), microeconomics, game theory, and econometrics. The method I have found works best is to have the student try to identify why the class is not going well. Often students get behind and get frustrated... [more]

I've always excelled academically, and I have a passion for sharing that experience with others. There is no greater thrill for me than the satisfaction of a job well-done. While completing both my Bachelor's and Master's of Arts in a single four-year timespan, I learned the value of hard work, time management, and most importantly, having a fantastic support system. I would not have achieved what I did without the help of my teachers and advisors, and now I want to pass that on to others. M... [more]

I am a crazy mathematics fanatic. I have loved math from age 14 in high school. As a high school student, I breezed through accelerated classes (1/2 year courses) until I was learning calculus as a junior. I started tutoring at age 15 and created a solid business in the Lafayette area. By the time I started college, I realized that teaching math was my passion, and I decided to get a math degree. While in college I continued to tutor. I worked for a tutoring business in Opelousas for ... [more]

In my last three semesters at UNO, I worked as a tutor for Student Support Services (SSS). I took Math, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry students and helped them with weekly revisions, study techniques, quiz preps, and exam reviews. Before starting my job at SSS, I was already helping classmates and friends out when they needed any help in their classes. To me, it was fun to talk about something that I already understood. Furthermore, success in the form of the person doing better than they w... [more]

I have over 10 years of teaching this subject at the high school and college level. I have tutored students enrolled in this course and they have been very successful! The pass rate has been 100% so far! I have a Masters in Mathematics Education from Southern Arkansas University. I have taught math for over 10 years on a variety of levels. From 5th grade math all the way to university level math, I love teaching the basics as well as algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. Math is more than just memorizing formulas; math is about critical thinking and problem solving skills. During [more]

I am a recent graduate from Tulane University (Class of 2017) with a BS in Mathematics and a BFA in Jazz Studies. I have several years experience tutoring middle school and high school students in math subjects like algebra, geometry, and precalculus, while I also informally helped my peers while in the math program at Tulane. I have found that working one on one with a tutor or teacher is the fastest way for a student to reach understanding and mastery of a topic. I love to help others i... [more]

I do have experience tutoring though it was not a paid position. I was never focused on the dollar signs when helping people understand a subject because that takes away from the quality of the tutoring itself. That being said, this will be my first paid tutoring service, but that will not take away from the lessons and gratification that can come from my tutoring. I have been blessed with the gift of understanding math without too much trouble. This has enabled me to be able to help my peers... [more]

I like tutoring Pre-Calculus and the level of analysis it demands. Pre-Calculus was included in the first Calculus class I took at UNO. As part of a requirement for my major, I have taken 10+ hours of Calculus. Everyone starts with Pre-Calculus. I experienced it in college. I am impressed with students taking it in high school. Hi, "My Turning Point Struggle with Math" I am Martin. I am an Electrical Engineer. When I started UNO, my ACT score placed me in remedial math. In my defiance of this placement, I received permission by the Dean to skip remedial math and take my first college [more]
