Colleges call it precalculus. High schools often call it math analysis. It includes trigonometry, and overlaps with algebra III. You're expected to take this either in your senior year of high school or at the beginning of college, depending on where you live. If I had one piece of advice for precalc students, it would be: at least master the easy cases. If you can't remember laws of logarithms, at least memorize that the (base 10) log of 1 = 0, the log of 10 = 1, the log of 100 = 2, the log of 1000 = 3, etc. Then, you can check a rule: log 10 + log 100 = 1 + 2 and log (10 * 100) = log 1000 = [more]

I have taught both AP and College Calculus in several schools (including OCCC, University of Walerloo). I have over 8 years of tutoring experience in Calculus for both High School and College students. I received a Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics in 1978, and later a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics in 1981, both from the University of Waterloo in Canada. During my Master's program, I was a teaching assistant for both the Calculus and Algebra divisions of the Department of Applied Mathematics, and became the head teaching assistant for the Calculus division. I attended Oklahoma Christian University to study Mechanical Engineering in 2007. In 2009, I began tutoring in an on-campus tutoring office and fell in love with tutoring. I graduated in December of 2011, but decided to continue pursuing private tutoring. I'm often asked why I don't pursue something relevant to my degree, but tutoring is what I love. Whether it's a student improving their grades so that they can get into a better college, or just seeing a student's confidence increase when th... [more]

My degree is heavily based on math and science, specifically Calculus, Geometry, Differential Equations, Statics and Dynamics and applied problem solving scenarios. I've always enjoyed helping others with Math since it was something that I had to work hard in to become proficient at. I also enjoy helping others succeed and become confident... [more]

I am a retired university professor with 27 years experience teaching lower and upper division physics and physical science for non-majors. When tutoring, I work with students to solve problems as a team, drawing from them whenever possible the relevant knowledge they need to solve the problem. This enables students to build on what they already know and helps increase their confidence in their problem solving skills. If you are seeking help with a business-related subject, you should kn...
