Precalculus courses include many of the foundations of mathematics needed for success in physics: advanced algebraic functions and trigonometry are prominent topics that cross into the sciences. Although my background is in chemistry, I've tutored in physics and done lots of review prep for college-level physics (including AP) for standardized tests such as the SAT subject tests and the MCAT. My whole approach to teaching can be summed up by a quote from Albert Einstein: "Imagination is More Important than Knowledge." I teach for long-term retention of concepts - not short term retention of fa [more]

I taught pre-AP precalculus as well as regular precalculus. I understand how to work as well as explain all the problems and I'm very familiar with what will be expected on tests. My name is Blake and I'm a physics and math tutor. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in physics and minor in mathematics at Stephen F. Austin State University. After college, I worked as a high school math teacher at West Orange-Stark High School in Orange, TX. I taught subjects such as Algebra 1, Geometry, Honors and Regular Pre-Cal, and AP Statistics. I have an extensive background in tutoring middle school, hig [more]

Precalculus, in some ways, is a recapitulation of Algebra 2. But don't be fooled- you may be covering the same ground, but you're digging much deeper this time. In particular, the subject of trigonometry is made into a huge meal in this course. Vectors and conic sections are investigated in greater detail. Proof by induction often appears here. Also, concepts that lead into the study of Calculus- limits, in particular- are usually covered near the end of the course. - 13 years of classroom experience (in the public school systems of Philadelphia, Cambridge and Houston) - over 15 years tutoring [more]

Education is important in the development of a child. Mathematics especially helps the student to critically think and work out steps to solve real life word problems. To truly understand mathematics, you can't just memorize formulas or equations. My name is Jimmy Garza, and I have more than 10 years in tutoring experience. I can tutor in any math subject K-12 and even in Chemistry. I have worked with home-schooled students on some of these subjects. Being a younger tutor, I can relate to the... [more]

I loved teaching Precalculus in the high school setting and College Algebra & Trig in the college setting for many years. I also taught the courses that precede and follow Precal in the curriculum sequence. This helps me assess pre-requisite skills needed for student success and important concepts for student mastery to assure success at the next level. I love math and helping students understand and apply what they are learning. I taught high school and college mathematics for more than 30 years and have tutored students individually throughout that time. I work to understand at the stude [more]

I am currently a physics graduate student going into my 2nd year at UHCL. I earned dual bachelor's degrees in Physics and Mathematics from the City University of New York at Hunter College with a 3.5 overall GPA. My primary interest is in astrophysics and cosmology with the goal of pursuing a PhD in Astro. Currently, I am a Teaching Assistant for Modern Physics Lab and I have TA'd University Physics I (both physics majors and non-physics majors). In the past, I tutored ACT/SAT Mathematics and... I am Zach. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in December 2014 with my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a minor in Astronomy. I have also obtained my teaching certificate in math and am currently teaching math in the Houston area. I have been a high school Math teacher for four years, and have taught everything from Geometry to College Algebra. I am currently working to get my certification in Physics and Computer Science as well. I have a strong passion for math and really like... [more]

I currently teach Pre-Calculus and Algebra 1 (STAAR tested). I have also taught Algebra 2. I graduated from University of Houston-Clear Lake, class of 2014, with a Master of Arts in Criminology. I conducted a thesis to complete my degree, so I am familiar with APA formatting and research. I also took statistics (both the research methods and math sections) along with the criminology courses (Race & Crime, Serial Murder, Culture of Law Enforcement, Prevention and Control of Crime, Criminal La... 20+ years of teaching Calculus & its applications I studied the theory and methods of Calculus in mathematics and mathematical physics classes during my MS and PhD studies. In my teaching I reviewed Calculus methods to the graduate students. In my research I applied Calculus in physical kinetics, DNA physics and optics. The research has been published in many American and international scientific journals. Hello, I?m Dr. Arnold. I retired recently as a professor of biophysics after 18 years of working for UTMB, Auburn University, and University of Houston. I started tutoring almost 20 years a [more]
