I went to Illinois State University to become a Math Education teacher. After college, I was a substitute teacher for the Schaumburg 54 School District and the U-46 District. I tutored students from 7th grade until Freshman year in college. I am able to teach Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry. I love tutoring because it's allowing me to teach without being in a classroom. I love the feeling I get when students realize their potential and begin to get excited about math because ... [more]

I love teaching. One thing I do know is that learning does not come at the same pace for every student. Whether facing new challenges in building math skills, developing new language proficiency, or honing materials already learned, I believe that everyone can learn and have made it my life's work to help students of every age find confidence in their ability to be successful students. During my years teaching in PK-12 schools and in higher education, I have focused much of my energies wor... [more]

I have worked in a middle school in Aurora, IL for seven years, at elementary schools in Streator, IL, and in the community college in Oglesby, IL. I now work in a public library. I took every chance I could get to help with math in the schools where I've worked, so I have had the chance to tutor students from middle school through college, as well as adult learners. I'm delig... [more]

Precalculus is a good primer for the classes that follow, especially with the understanding of trigonometric functions. I've seen several students make great progress once they've worked enough problems with the unit circle, to get comfortable with degrees and radians. My math degree and career experience has helped precalculus students raise their grade significantly. After a 20 year career as an actuary I have been tutoring students from 6th grade through college for 9 years, more than 300 students 3,000 hours. I am also a certified substitute teacher a part-time professor at Illinois State [more]
