Hi! I am a patient, flexible, and encouraging tutor, and I'd love to help you or your child gain confidence and succeed academically. I adapt my teaching style to students' needs and learning styles, explaining difficult concepts step by step and using questions to draw out students' understanding so that they learn valuable problem-solving skills along the way. I have taught students from kindergarten to college age, as well as adult students, and I build positive tutoring relationships wit... [more]

I have been a curious student my whole life and I like to pass on not just knowledge, but my love of learning. I graduated High School with a GPA above 4.0 and immediately joined the US Navy in their Nuclear Propulsion program. I spent 4 years in the Navy learning about nuclear reactors and then decided to start a family when I got out. Since then I have finished my BS in Physics with a minor in Math graduating Cum Laude. I also was inducted into the physics honor society, Sigma Pi Sigma,... [more]

Since calculus is my favorite area of mathematics, I feel it's essential for a student to have the necessary fundamental tools when that course begins. Precalculus has so many skills that must be solid for a student to enter calculus. As a certified math teacher, I have taught both precalculus and calculus. More importantly, I've worked with a great many students in the area of precalculus, at both high school and college levels. Mathematics is often so confusing and so boring, but it doesn't have to be that way! Math is not some mysterious subject that only a few can comprehend, but just ano [more]

Although I am currently a Senior Analytical Chemist, I was a high school certified chemistry teacher in Romania for four years, before coming to the United States. While working as a teacher, I also tutored a number of high school students in Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and especially Organic Chemistry, as well as in math. I had a lot of success with students considered to be at the lowest level of the class by their teachers. It turned out that a little one on one attention, as ... [more]

Experience has taught me that students will meet the bar that you set for them. Raise the bar high and give them the support and structure they need and they will reach it. I have a true love of both teaching and learning. Not much beats the feeling of seeing a student have that moment when things finally "click"! Patience and good communication skills with each individual student are key. Equally important is the willingness and ability to adapt methods of explaining a topic until you... [more]

Hello. My name is Nick and I graduated as a math major at the end of the spring of 2009 from a local college. I tutored students while I was at the college so I have experience in tutoring. I graduated at the top of my class and had the highest honors possible so I know the subject material well. I am very patient and will help you to understand no matter how long it takes. I like to teach with examples as I think going through the actual problem solving process is helpful.... [more]

Precalculus is a sort of bridge course that is offered in some schools and colleges. It provides a way to transition from advanced algebra and trigonometry into calculus. Typically precalculus will review topics such as logs, exponentials, limits, sequences and series, and functions. As such it can seem dry to some students. The concepts are very abstract, and they haven't had the opportunity to see them in application in calculus itself. My approach to precalculus includes some illustrations that will help to see more of the "why" of some of these concepts. [more]
