I started tutoring in high school as a peer tutor, and have been tutoring since (~10 years). My favorite subject to tutor in is math, specifically math ranging from Algebra through Calculus. Along the way, I've also picked up some experience in tutoring for Spanish and Physics. I love the feeling of finding new ways to explain concepts that don't make sense to students the first time. I've had a very successful track record of academic improvement with my students. I also like to instill note... [more]

I have taught and tutored high school and middle school math since 1976 and taught math at Granite Oaks Middle School up until retiring in June 2016. There are four components to my tutoring: 1. Concepts and Skills: help students understand the concepts behind what they are learning and give them practice on the skills they need to become mathematically fluent. 2. Accuracy, Organization, and Efficiency: help students organize their work and become accurate and efficient problem solvers. ... [more]

Pre-Calculus is the 'final wrap-up' of Algebra necessary for success with Calculus. It includes all of the material covered in prior Elementary Algebra courses (Algebras I and II) as well as extensive treatments of Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Functions, with introductions to Continuity and Limits. The rigor of Pre-Calculus courses is greater than previous mathematics courses and is often near the level of many Calculus courses. It requires a greater level of discipline and work than do the Elementary Algebras and Trigonometry courses. [more]

I became a math major because I couldn't imagine school without doing mathematics. I've worked with students who feel exactly the opposite: they can't imagine enjoying school when "doing" mathematics is part of the equation. In my eight years of teaching (Pre-algebra through Precalculus) and 16 years of tutoring (Pre-algebra through Calculus as well as Integrated Math 1-3 as part of the Common Core Curriculum), I've discovered that many students who just didn't "get math," achieved understan... The study of life is embedded in the study of Precalculus. Precalculus explains why and how so many things work, and is the foundation language of all the sciences, including business. It is quite possibly the best high school course ever! "Why study mathematics?" and "How will I ever understand this stuff?" are two of the most real and common questions I am asked when students, along with their parents, ask me to help. I use methods and techniques that I've perfected over the years to show the applicability and the beauty behind "the beast" known as mathematics...and my students get it. I b [more]

Precalculus has everything that you need to know after you have completed algebra and before you have started calculus. Any casual behavior or slackness on your part in learning this will seriously damage your mathematics knowledge base. I have tutored precalculus to many. With sound knowledge in precalculus your areas of application of calculus get magnified. You become a much better mathematician, scientist or engineer. The review of one of my past students: "Sushanta is patient, very very competent and extremely caring. He explains so well that complex things become easy to understand. P [more]

I love mathematics and I love teaching, and I have thought mathematics and specially calculus for more than 4 years, and my major in my master and my PhD was applied mathematics so I supposed to know calculus perfectly. Throughout all the years I have studied, what really intrigued me were the basic concepts with which whole sciences were constructed. Having a deep and clear understanding and grasp of those concepts was the reason I have always been considered an absolute success in both teaching, in schools or at universities, and studying, during Bachelors and Masters or Doctorates programs. My education in Pre-Calculus and Calculus began early in high school, and has been a crucial component of my entire education since. As a result, I have extensive practical experience in applying and teaching all levels of Calculus. While many students find advanced forms of math intimidating, I find that most are actually quite capable of success. A little guidance to teach the students how to analyze and think through a problem gives students the confidence to tackle what they once thought they couldn't. [more]

I am qualified to tutor Precalculus based on my education (Master in space Physics) and years of experience. It is my favorite subject because it is interesting and requires a excellent math and problem solving skills. I think this is the math level every high-school student should achieve. It is also very useful because is sets a base for SAT test preparation. My name is Liliana and I am a math professor with an extensive teaching/tutoring experience. My tutoring career started with basic skills math sessions, when I worked as a math tutor in the program "No Child Left Behind" in the East Los [more]

I love learning, from the most simple of things to how to make my next meal taste more delicious, to grand things regarding the functioning and inner workings of the universe. I am highly motivated for my own knowledge, and endlessly enthusiastic towards those who likewise desire to obtain knowledge. There is no field of knowledge in which I lack interest, yet my areas of mastery are music and Mandarin Chinese. I have taught in China in a classroom for seven years and individually tutored...
