For the past four years I have been helping students master the pre-calculus skills they'll need at the next level. Schools are increasing the academic demands on students at younger ages than ever before; consequently, many students need extra support to thrive. That?s where I come in! I help bridge the gap between academic expectations and one-on-one expertise. Contact me to set up a schedule for keeping your student(s) moving forward this school year! As for my background, I have enjoyed tutoring through Wyzant for the past two years. For three years prior to that, I managed a private nati [more]

Hi, I'm Bjorn, a recent PhD in mathematics. I have extensive (5+ years) experience tutoring in both mathematics and physics at the high school and university levels. Unlike most tutors, I only take on students in subjects that are closely related to my areas of academic specialization and experience. I hold a PhD in mathematics. I also hold a Bachelor's degree in mathematics. I have taught both at the university level in large undergraduate lectures and tutored students 1 on 1. Through this... [more]

I have tutored math and science since college. For 4 years, my part time job in college was a teaching assistant at University of Minnesota in General College's Math Center. Also, I worked in Math Special Projects and the Astronomy department as a teaching assistant. After graduation, I was employed as a teacher at Sylvan Learning Center. As an ex-national lab physics Ph.D., I have retained all of what I learned of precalculus and other higher maths in high school. I taught precalculus to two gifted East High School students last year, and learned much myself about the best ways to explain both parts, college algebra and trigonometry. Since I have also mentored calculus, I can even explain to a student just why they need to learn each math topic in precalculus. All of this can bring the subject alive for them and help them understand it well. [more]

I have been teaching this subject to advanced and normal paced students for 5 years. I am highly qualified and capable of teaching advanced and struggling students. I use many methods to teach the subject, but all come back to integrating numbers, algebra, and graphs to get a complete view of the concept. I have been teaching in small towns since 2013. I started off in northwest Missouri near St. Joseph, but moved to Iowa three years ago with my wife. In the two years I have been in Iowa I have been teaching, tutoring, or proctoring every thing from review algebra to college math classes. [more]
