Hello Students and Parents, Math has long been the source of dread and misery for countless students. Many have often given up by mistakenly buying into the false notion that they "just don't have it" or that math is "too hard" for them. But my firm belief is that anyone can learn anything given enough time, patience and inspiration. Even the most challenging subjects can be mastered by a willing learner and an able teacher. My primary focus as a tutor is to first help struggling learners ... [more]

I regularly tutor all aspects of Pre-Calculus, from rational polynomials to logarithms and trigonometric functions. This one is my favorite subjects! I have a BS in Mathematics from the University of California, Riverside. I also attended California State University, San Marcos as a graduate student in Mathematics; the degree is incomplete and I discontinued the program. I've been tutoring since December 2013. I've tutored all ages, K through college. I'm currently employed as a tutor in a group center and so I will have to work around that schedule. I am available Monday through Thursda [more]

I'm a college professor with 25+ years of experience teaching mathematics and computer programming. My favorite subjects include precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, optimization and numerical analysis. I believe the only way to learn mathematics or computer programming is by working through many exercises and problems. There's no way around this. It doesn't matter how well a lecture is presented or how good the teacher is. If you don't do the work yourself, you'll probably not succeed. ... [more]

I have my BS in Mathematics from Cal Baptist in Riverside, as well as my teaching credential. I also have my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, from Concordia University Portland. I have been tutoring since high school, and have been teaching full-time for 5 years now.... [more]

I have experience assisting the students in learning concepts and developing their skills in easy ways. I spend adequate time with students and make sure they understand me well. I would encourage them to ask me any questions about the subject or any portion of the subject's material that is not clear to them. I was tutoring math courses such as basic algebra, college algebra and calculus to undergraduate students while I was working on my graduate courses at NCSU in Raleigh, NC. The students... [more]

I have had a variety of work experience in government and private industry, primarily in computers(software)/mathematics. My college degrees are B.A. (math) and M.S. (math); early in my career, I obtained a substitute-teaching credential for California community (two-year) colleges. I have tutored students in high school math and at the two-year college level. My approach is somewhat informal: reviewing a student's current and recent course material, engaging the student in a brief discuss... [more]

A California native, I have served the San Diego and Santa Cruz areas for eight years as an independent one-on-one tutor to students of all ages. My tutoring experience started with a volunteer opportunity at Calvary Chapel Oceanside, where I helped students from kindergarten to fifth grade with various subjects (reading comprehension, mathematics, writing). I soon received my first job as an independent tutor, and have been tutoring students in that role since. I am a recent graduate from t... [more]

I have been tutoring Elementary math through Pre-Calculus for 19 years. I have been tutoring at Mount San Jacinto College primarily as a Math tutor, even though I tutor other subjects as well. I used to work for the Upward Program as an instructor and tutor for young students. I have been tutoring for the same college for 14 years. I enjoy helping people do well in their classes. I am a people person and will always listen first to what the tutee has to say so that we can better address their area of trouble. I'm also very patient. I have been tutoring math through College Algebra although I [more]

Precalculus lays the foundations for upper math topics found in Calculus such as derivatives, limits, infinite series, integration and many more. Understanding Precalculus allows the student to have a great foundation for continuing in math. Every student is different and has different needs. As an experienced Math Professor, I am able to utilize several different methods to help any student learn the material, which translates very well for in person tutoring. Currently, I am pursuing my Doctorate in Philosophy of Math Education at ASU. I do my best to stay current with the best teaching [more]

When I work with students in Pre-Calculus there are a couple of key concepts that I almost immediately focus upon: The unit circle [with the Sine and Cosine function, their values and the relationship of radians and degrees (p = 180 degrees). The other concept I focus on is the definition of function. Range and Domain. Students taking these courses are generally solid in their understanding of math. However for many of them, this is often the first time that they really have had to "study" for a math course. There is no standard pre-Calculus course because different schools focus their pr [more]
