Hi, I?m Andrew! I received a Bachelor's degree and graduated with distinction from the University of Colorado Boulder. I was a double major in Biochemistry and Integrative Physiology and completed a certificate in public health. For me, the most rewarding feeling in school was finally understanding a difficult topic. Once a subject ?clicked,? everything before then made sense, and everything after came much easier. Sometimes these ?clicking moments? came naturally and early in a course, but o... [more]

B.S in Mathematics from UGA. Tutored over 10 students in precalculus while at UGA and tutor students in precalculus now. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Mathematics, and I?m currently starting as a Software Engineer. While at UGA, I tutored several students in Math and Math based classes, and they get A?s and B?s in all of them. In my experience the key to understanding Math and Math based subjects is to understand how they relate to reality. This usually simplifies them, and makes them easier to remember. Since graduating, I've helped many students learning Statisti [more]

Ive tutored seniors at Jefferson High School in precalculus, and found ways to solidify knowledge gained so it is easy to recall. Confidence is one of the most important aspects of academic achievement. I build student confidence by asking questions and creating a scaffold for students to learn with. This formula encourages students to take an active role in their learning. When students find the answers themselves, they are much more likely to remember those answers when they need them, be it on the ACT or in college courses. One of the best things about this method is it can be used even aft [more]

I have taught pre-calculus in the classroom as well as tutored students in the subject. The students whom I have worked with generally comprise a wide range of ability levels (including those who struggle with basic algebra skills). Students who have worked with me have reported increased skills and positive learning outcomes after taking my class in this subject. My tutoring method is inquiry-based and consists of asking the students questions to draw out pre-existing knowledge, then refining the questions to isolate which specific steps in the problem-solving process are causing confusion. Growing up in a third world country, I was one of the fortunate ones to be able to get education in a missionary school, where my Scottish maths teacher inspired and motivated me to learn maths in a very fun way. Maths is really fun if you learn to solve the problems. I loved my high school maths, which lead me to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree and with lot of hard work and determination I did achieve my degree and now I work for a small local company in Boulder. ...
