Hey guys, I'm Matthew. I am currently a Learning Assistant for the math program at the University of Arkansas. I help professors in the classroom. I also tutor students in the labs. I love helping students with math. Everyone learns in different ways and it's exciting to see all of the different methods used in learning. I am currently assisting professors in Calculus and Finite Mathematics. I am confident in tutoring up to Calculus 1. Classes that may fall under Calculus 1 would be Algebra ... [more]

I majored in Philosophy and minored in Mathematics in college. I tutor math, physics, general engineering, writing and test prep for high school, college and adult students. I also work with mentally disabled, ADD, autistic and bipolar students. During college, I worked as a network engineer, chef and tutor. I teach in a logical and straightforward manner and try to cultivate my students' personal understanding of the material. I accomplish this by giving them plenty of questions and example... [more]

Probability: It should be intuitive, but once we move beyond very simple situations, like drawing marbles out of a bag or calculating the likelihood of being dealt a full house in Poker, it's surprisingly obscure! I have helped many students find their way through probability, whether it's in the context of a statistics or discrete mathematics class or test prep, or whether it's in a probability class on its own! If you are finding probability difficult, please let me know! I would love to help make it clearer and enjoyable. [more]

As a Master's level graduate student, I completed coursework for a graduate certificate in Statistics, with an applied focus track, which included graduate level Statistical Probability Theory. Additionally, I have taught undergraduate courses in business-focused statistics, including instruction in probability theory. I have provided one on one assistance to many high school and college students regarding probability and regularly employ the material in my own research. I am an economist, moving onto my Ph.D. in Economics. I recently received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army and comp [more]

Many undergrads and grad students in business and psychology have to calculate probabilities based off of z scores -- standard deviations above the mean. They do this by referring to a series of tables in the back of their textbook. My senior year of college, I took a math class in probability where we learned how to generate that table from scratch. One of my favorite things about probability is how it can surprise people who think that something is obviously false, but it's true. For example, let's imagine that twenty-four random people are in a room together. Do two of those people share t [more]

I earned my BS in Meteorology from OU with minors in Mathematics and Hydrology in 2009, my MS from OU in Meteorology in 2012, and I am currently a PhD Candidate in Meteorology at OU. I also have 3 years of experience teaching elementary and advanced Meteorology Laboratory classes at OU. In my time teaching, I truly enjoy the joy that I see in students when they finally solve a problem or reach a goal that they've been working very hard to solve or achieve, and I truly relish the opportuni...
