As a 3rd year Ph.D. student at Tulane, I have the experience of taking on statistics classes covering basic to advanced topics. Moreover, my work relies on statistics regularly, and I've become familiar with the techniques involved in its applications. I grew up in the Midwest and studied civil and architectural engineering in college, where I helped my classmates with their math problems. I realized it was something I enjoyed doing and started tutoring anyone who needed the help. I liked making people feel comfortable with math and boosting their confidence in their own abilities. I have taught probability and statistics at UNO and have passed an actuarial exam covering probability topics. I am enrolled as a PhD student in Biostatistics. I currently hold a Master of Science in mathematics (statistics). My areas of expertise are probability and statistics, high school math (algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus), college math (pre-calculus and calculus), and micro-economics. The method I have found works best is to have the student try to identify why the class is not going well. Often students get behind and get frustrated and say "I don't get it." I am an Industrial Engineer and Probability and Industrial Engineering go hand and hand. We'll go through many types of probability theory such as Pr(A and B), Pr(A OR B), etc. 5+ years during high school, college, and post-college I professionally tutored: peer tutoring one-on-one to group lessons? weekly teacher assistant office hours to reviewing and proctoring exams. Teaching in-school then at-home. But, in the end, I prefer online for its convenience! As an Industrial Engineer, I optimize. I apply science-based learning techniques such as Socratic Method, "growth mindset", and motivatio [more]
