Majoring in Mathematics and Economics at Williams College required significant study in the fields of probability and statistics. My academic experience is supplemented by my professional experience in financial services, where I applied the principles I learned in school to valuation analysis and economic modeling. As a tutor, I have worked with students in high school and college on these topics both for exam prep and general assignment support. Probability and statistics show up every day of our lives, and without a solid understanding of these subjects we will not be able to deal properly [more]

I'm a graduate from Stony Brook University with a Masters in Math Education and Bachelors in Math. I love thinking of new ways to explain concepts and innovative ways to show it visually or with physical models. My goal is to really help a student understand the material, and understand what could potentially be holding him/her back from truly knowing and applying it. While I am open to all students, the best ones I've worked with and had the greatest potential to grow are those that truly d... [more]

I became interested in studying probability in Algebra 2 in high school. Our teacher brought up the idea that in our class of 25, there was greater than a 50% chance that 2 kids had the same birth date. After class, I asked him to show me the math behind the example. He gave me some further homework of a similar vantage point. In college and then graduate school, I went on to study more probability course work. Most recently I studied probability as part of risk management certification. In financial risk, probability helps determine in likelihood and magnitude of losses. [more]
