Many undergrads and grad students in business and psychology have to calculate probabilities based off of z scores -- standard deviations above the mean. They do this by referring to a series of tables in the back of their textbook. My senior year of college, I took a math class in probability where we learned how to generate that table from scratch. One of my favorite things about probability is how it can surprise people who think that something is obviously false, but it's true. For example, let's imagine that twenty-four random people are in a room together. Do two of those people share t [more]

I recently revived my Bachelors of Science in Management Information Systems from Oklahoma State University. I began tutoring in high school and have worked with teen, preteen, and adult students. I believe my long standing love of math and logic is what led me to want to study subjects like computer programming and statistics. I believe that math is a puzzle. We all have the capability to do it, but only if we look at it from the right angle. An explanation that seems crystal clear to one... [more]

Probability and statistics formalize several attributes of the mathematical arts. They provide tools for summarizing patterns and making predictions about units within a well defined population. They are treated as sciences by those who employ them. My transcript documents that I have accumulated 9 credit hours in the area of probability and statistics. I have also employed them extensively during various projects in industry. My skills are derived from a diverse work history involving multiple trades and an ongoing pursuit of academic excellence. Hello, I'm Michael! I completed my Masters in Mathematics at the University of Oklahoma in the Fall of 2017. For my undergraduate I double majored in Mathematics and Computer Science. My passion for these subjects was inspired by excellent professors that I've sought to emulate. Their clarity of exposition and commitment to their students' success was a major factor in my success and I have worked hard to continue that tradition with my students. I began teaching as an undergraduate and now ... [more]
