Probability is one of my favorite subjects. I understand how confusing it can be when it comes to solving problems that involves permutation, combination, event space and sample space etc. Through years of teaching I have come up with ways to explain the tricky concepts from different perspectives. And I am able to come up with practice problems on the fly to help my student drill and gain deeper understanding in this area. I specialize in teaching calculus. I have tutored more hours in calculus than in any other subjects! While working on my master's degree in mathematics at University o [more]

I am currently a Ph.D. student in Cognition and Neuroscience at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) where I study how the brain changes as we age, especially how the interaction of different brain regions change as we age. I enjoy and specialize in helping others understand statistical concepts in addition to carrying out statistical analyses by hand and by using statistical software packages such as SPSS, R/R Studio, and Excel. I also enjoy helping students understand psychological conce... [more]

Hi there! I really love math and love making it logical and approachable for students! It's a subject I know a lot of students and parents struggle with, but with a straightforward approach, clear examples, and a little practice, it will become enjoyable and fun! Outside of math, I also have strong analytic essay writing skills and can help with grammar, thesis statements, and organization of ideas in essays. These same analytical skills also translate to excellent standardized test prep - ... [more]

I am currently a middle school and high school math teacher at a private school in Texas and love teaching, math, and people. I've been tutoring or teaching people most of my life and wanted to be a teacher since middle school (a very long time ago)! I enjoy showing students the connections in mathematics and watching the "a-ha" moments on their face. My desire for students is comprehension beyond the "right answer". In my tutoring I look for the most basic misunderstanding and teach fro... [more]

Probability and Statistics are interwoven subjects, and I have taken many semesters of this coursework at the graduate level. My way of explaining probability tends more towards the intuitive and less towards the mathematical, although I can cover the math too. So I can help you understand what the concepts mean, how they appear in applied contexts, and how you can use them in your own current schoolwork and future profession. This can complement the material you have covered in class, where the discussion often centers on how to calculate things without a lot of attention on when or why you w [more]

I am a former NC math teacher that relocated to the Dallas area for a Ph.D. program in Education research. I am also attending school for my masters in statistics. I have previously taught high school math and math to ESOL students. Tutoring is fun because it allows teachers to actually obtain an individual understanding of how students learn. I like to make math relevant but also make connections between other mathematical content. What can you expect: Friendly and knowledgeable help re... [more]

Preface: The majority of my tutoring experience has been focused on math, which explains my current free response talking mostly about math. However, I am reviewing previous coursework in physics and chemistry and am available to tutor those subjects at the high school and college levels. I have loved math since I was a child. I aced my math courses throughout school and was eventually selected to attend the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, a two-year residential program for gifte... [more]

Math is like a playground for your mind. Developing sharp math skills helps students improve logical reasoning and critical thinking skills. From a young age, I have always enjoyed learning about math. I have never received less than an "A" in any math course that I've ever taken (I still have the report cards to prove it!). My earliest experiences with tutoring came when I began tutoring other students in my high school math classes. During my college years, I tutored for the McKinney In... [more]

First and foremost, I am a teacher that always finds a way to connect to each individual's way of thinking, always striving to find the words of explanation that make a concept click for them. I have experience as a statistics lecturer at Ohio State, and also as a working statistician in the industry. I love helping people "see the light" so that statistics is understandable and not intimidating. I consistently receive positive feedback on my ability to teach statistics. I am a statistical t... I have always loved to learn and to help students achieve their goals. For more than 20 years, I taught immunology, microbiology, molecular and cellular biology, and biochemistry to medical and graduate students as a professor and research scientist in a medical school. My graduate students have honored me with an award for Teaching Excellence, and my colleagues have selected me for induction into the Academy of Master Teachers at my university. I was also given the title of Distinguished Tea... [more]
