I've used probability to describe the branching ratios of different chemical reactions. Some of my work related to using probability to describe the rates of chemical reactions. I also enjoy calculating probabilities for dice rolls and card games. At one point, I developed a model that identifies the risk/probability of a college closing in the next 4 years. I have over five years experience teaching and tutoring students in math and programming. I gained most of my experience teaching prison inmates math courses from pre-Algebra to Precalculus and Statitics in San Quentin State Prison. Don't [more]

I am a bay area graduate (UC Berkeley) who has loved the learning process all my life. I have used my math and science skills throughout my engineering career, and enjoy engaging others in the learning process. Seeing a student smile as they begin to understand a difficult topic is very rewarding. I specialize in tutoring chemistry, math, and physics to help students achieve success in school, and on the various standardized tests. My goal is not only to help the student learn, but create ... My name is Anh. I'm currently a high school Math teacher at a public high school. I graduated from Sacramento State University with honor from their most difficult Bachelor of Art Math program. I also finish my teaching credential program at Sac State. Being a bilingual person, who benefits from the best of both countries (America and Vietnam) education, I know what is good and bad in both systems, from which, I learn how to teach and transfer my knowledge in the most effective way. Teaching ... [more]

Learning has always been a passion in my life. Academic learning, life experience, motivational books. Just name it. I have helped and tutored grade levels from elementary to college, where I majored in Chemical Engineering. I took time to understand concepts and extended these understandings to different subjects. I took AP science, math, history and social science courses in high school and continued my intellectual pursuits in college. I have usually tutored math and science subjects in i... [more]

I am a Naperville North High School and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign graduate with a degree in Mathematics. I have extensive problem-solving experience including winning 1st place at the 2007 ICTM State Math Contest, qualifying for the USA Math Olympiad, and placing in the top 500 in the national Putnam competition. My tutoring methods vary student-by-student, but I specialize in breaking down problems and asking questions to guide the student toward discovering and truly underst... [more]

Math has always been my specialty. I completed two years of college engineering math (Calculus, differential equations and multivariable calculus) at UC Santa Barbara while I was still in high school, earning a straight A average and a place on the Dean's honors list before I was even a full time student. In 4 years I earned bachelors degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics. Five years later I completed my doctorate in Electrical Engineering at UC Berkeley with an emphasis in electro... [more]

I have a PhD in Mathematics from Colorado State University in 2013. I have 5+ years experience teaching and tutoring undergraduate level math courses. I am available to tutor in a variety of math courses for grades 6 and up and also college level courses including algebra, calculus, discrete math, math for social sciences, probability and statistics. I can also help with SAT test preparation for math levels 1 and 2. I am passionate about teaching and have a never-give-up attitude. My experie... [more]

Hi! I'm enthusiastic about helping young people become outstanding students by assisting with writing skills and tutoring in math and physics. I'm most interested in improving reasoning and communication skills essential for academic success. I prefer to work with families and students who value education; I'm not so interested in assisting someone whose only concern is passing tomorrow's test. A student who insists on simply being told the steps to solve a particular homework problem, who is... [more]

Tutoring is an act of observation. It succeeds where normal instruction fails because it is geared toward a student's particular strengths. My best experiences as a tutor have been with the students who needed me most, learning how they needed to learn. I have been a tutor in one setting or another since childhood. As an undergraduate I was a teacher's assistant in English, German and Astronomy, a grader in Calculus and a tutor in Physics for scientists and engineers. I have continued to... [more]

Typically students studying Probability do so as part of general Introductory Statistics course. Unlike most sections of Statistics, Probability is very much like other Mathematics subjects students are familiar with (namely Elementary Algebra, Finite Math, etc.). It relies heavily on Algebraic rules and is largely computational. Success here is largely dependent on working problems applying the rules of counting. There are some novel mathematical concepts here that one must master to succeed in this mostly accessible subject area. [more]
