Perhaps the most counter-intuitive subject that you will encounter in your academic career will be probability. Since kindergarten, mathematics has been framed in definite terms with no room for interpretation. Although the discipline of probability attempts to quantify uncertainty (and does so incredibly well), interpretation of the results obtained requires a firm understanding of the assumptions and conditions that underly the particular method of quantification used. With my wealth of supplemental materials at your disposal, and my ability to convey the mechanics of probability in a simple [more]

I studied probability as part of my degree plan at UT, and use it extensively in statistics as well. The study of probability is largely about 1. counting methods, often studied in discrete math classes, and 2. learning the various types of distributions commonly used in modeling data: exponential, normal, gamma, uniform, etc,, including the important aspects of each type of distribution, such as mean, standard deviation, memorylessness, etc. Often sophisticated calculus techniques are required as well. As a graduate in math from UT, I am well-acquainted with these aspects of the class. [more]

Hello! My name is Adam, and I am excited for the opportunity to tutor in math and science subjects. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry in 2012. While an undergraduate student, I was a chemistry (general and organic) tutor for courses at BYU for a period of just over 2 years. It was during that time that I realized that I truly enjoy tutoring, and I feel that I learned to teach in an effective and genuine manner. I also have experience tutoring ... [more]
