I was a department tutor for introductory physics courses at Michigan State University and Western Michigan University for four years. I help students make the connections between the mathematical and the physical, to actually understand what equations mean, for deeper application skills than memorization alone. My students would often not fully recognize the relationships between the equations they were trying to solve and the physical situations described in the problems. Many math and phy... [more]

PSAT tests students on grammar, sentence completion and various mathematics subjects that are good indications on how well students might do in the SAT roughly a year hence. Grammar can be rather easy if certain mechanical rules are followed. Sentence completion is a little harder; it requires subject to follow certain "flow" of the passage, then choose what is best from among the choices for answers. Mathematics part might be review in Algebra or even some Geometry questions. Both can be learned from doing examples. I have taken the G.M.A.T. and scored at the 99 percentile. I have also [more]

Hi! I'm Laura, and I just graduated from Colorado State with my master's degree in Chemistry. I'm also a graduate of Iowa City High School. My two main areas that I am passionate about are science and math. I've taught classes at CSU for six years (general chemistry lab and recitation and one engineering laser class) and realized that I love teaching. During the time I was at CSU, I also tutored a number of students in chemistry. I love seeing students "get it": go from not knowing what is go... [more]

I've volunteered as a mentor for many years, and I come from a family of teachers. Students appreciate my approach to study materials as I'm able to explain topics in a manner appropriate to each student. I tutor students in all math subject areas, while specializing in ACT and SAT prep, Algebra, Calculus, Probability, and Stati... [more]

Since starting college I've tutored elementary through high school math independently along with PSAT Math. Through Bucknell's Teaching ... [more]

A recent graduate of Dartmouth College, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Theater modified with Leadership. Valedictorian of my high school in New Mexico, I attended Dartmouth with the aspiration of becoming a mathematician before finding my passion in the theater. Although I have found my passion in the arts, I find great fulfillment tutoring math and science, because I think it's important for students to know they can succeed in these challenging subjects. I seek to develop an individual ... [more]
