Python is an interpreted high-level programming language most effectively used as a scripting or glue language. Python, like R programming, finds immense usage in the field of bioinformatics. My exposure to Python and R programming from a profession perspective is using both in Data Analysis. For the past year I have been teaching Python as an introduction to computer programming. Python was an interesting language for me to learn. I consider it one of the first "true" high level languages I became proficient in. I have since gone on to tutor students in Python that are STEM and non-STEM majors as well as students in high school. Python is a lot easier for my students to grasp, and I often show them how to make projects using it. Showing my students how to make and implement projects to show their friends and family is the most rewarding part. Making projects allows the student to be as creative as they like and develop art through code. [more]
Greetings! I am a senior developer taking a few years off to give back to the community. As a software consultant, I can tell you what it's like to work in the field. Like explaining the difference between working with a fortune 500 company and a four-person startup. Or working on cutting edge software or on legacy software so old, nobody has the source code. The last couple of years I designed coding curriculums for high school kids and working professionals, so I am familiar with how to... [more]
Beyond working as a scientific researcher for close to 10 years working mainly in Python, I have taught multiple programming courses using Python. These focused on fundamentals (i.e. data structures and algorithms) as well as managing Python projects using test-driven methods, type checkers and version control systems (git & svn). If you are interested in growing your understanding in the areas of math, logic and/or computer science, please get in touch. With a degree in math and computer science -- and a specialization in language studies -- I have a passion for finding the best way to break [more]
After two years as a full time software developer, I was promoted to a team lead position this summer. While on-boarding some new college grads to my team, I received feedback that I was a great teacher and should develop my own educational materials or start teaching. So that's what I am here to do! I received my undergraduate degree in Economics-Mathematics from Columbia and worked in finance for a few years before coming to the realization that since I spent all my spare time with techno... As an administrator of server and client machines, I have had to automate a number of tasks, for which I have utilized scripting languages such as Python. As a software sales engineer, I have used Python to automate the creation of demonstration environments, such as setting up the server environments in a virtual OS. BACKGROUND I am an experienced technical professional executive who enjoys coaching and mentoring. I thrive when I see the "light bulb turned on" for my students that successfully grasp concepts that were once very challenging to them. I go out of my way to make sure that all m [more]
