I am currently certified in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Geometry. The New York State Regents exams in these subject areas are basically final exams in these subjects. Consequently, certification in the subjects listed above is essentially equivalent to certification in Regents exam prep for the courses that I have listed. I am a retired math professor, available for tutoring high school or college students. Prior to retiring, I taught Mathematics on a full-time basis for 8 years at the university level and for 19 years in a community college setting. The courses that I taught [more]

As a High School ELA teacher, I helped multiple students prepare for the high school English, Global, and American History regents. I regularly worked with students to prepare them for the skills and content of all three regents, helping them with literacy skills, close reading skills, inference and main idea skills, all aligned with the Common Core. Additionally, I provide multiple review help for students with Global and American history content, making sure that students understood context, sequence, and how major historical events influenced and reflect upon current events. I graduated high school with an advanced regents diploma. I have a degree in Science/Math and I am transferring into Education Certification program at my new college. I also have in experience tutoring regents prep already. My methods for Regents prep include using copies of old New York State Regents Exams which are provided by the school district to review material and break down effective test taking skills with the students. I tutor Regents Earth Science, Regents Living Environment, Regents Physics, Regents Geometry, Regents Algebra 1 and Regents Algebra 2/Trigonometry. [more]

I had three students this year whom I helped prepare for the Algebra I and Global History Regents. I am very familiar with the Regents Exams as I attended public school in Rockland County, NY. I received a 95 or higher on every Regents Exam I took in high school. I am very familiar with how to study and succeed in these exams. I particularly like Barrons' materials, in addition to the practice exams available online for my students. All three of my students were very well prepared! I bring an effective teaching approach that focuses on test mastery and content comprehension to my students. I h [more]

I have had success bringing students to a higher level in their understanding. My Regents specialties are the Algebra, Geometry, American History and English exams. My emphasis is preparing for the exam by studying at least the last six exams, looking for the similarities that always exist. It the student needs to 'brush up' on a certain topic, we address the need. As recently as 6/17, I have assisted 70's students prepare and receive 90's on their Regents exam. I am NYS Mathematics (7-12), Business Education (1-12) and Social Studies (7-12) certified. I have taught these subjects at the [more]

From personal experience (my own High School Regent's Diploma) required sitting for exams in English, Social Studies, Spanish, Math (9th - 11th year), and Earth Science. My levels-- grades 85 and better-- correspond to what is currently the "advanced" designation or "mastery" in all of those subjects. Many of my classes were AP (Advanced Placement) as well. I did not utilize prep courses or tutoring. Currently, I am most qualified to teach and prepare students for Regents English, Global Studies, and Earth Science. After minoring in English, including studies at Columbia University, I ach [more]

I am instructing my long-term student G. how to prepare for the Spanish regents next month. I have close familiarity with the Spanish and English Regents, thanks to my undergrad education classes and first-hand tutoring experience. The online availability of past Regents exams makes it a subject that is easy to learn about and provide authentic practice material to students. I've been tutoring for years, starting in high school as a Spanish and ESL tutor toward community service hours. In college, I went on to work as an SAT tutor for a private company, and then I decided to go out on my own. [more]

I have five years of experience tutoring students for the math Regents exam (algebra 1, 2, trigonometry and geometry) for grades 9-12. For the past years, I have taught and had students practice all the problems in eight actual Regents exams. Through practicing the problems repeatedly, they became more confident and gained problem solving skills. My goal is to not only help students achieve good grades on the Regents but also motivate to learn math. Dear students and parents; I am a certified math teacher majoring in math and statistics at Stony Brook University. I am very confident in t [more]

I have accumulated two binders full of archived Regents examinations, one binder for mathematics and the other for the sciences and history. They deserve at least a booklet of commentary, but here are a few thoughts. Integrated Algebra: a pleasant romp through beginning high school algebra. Geometry: previously also a pleasant romp, but now exhibiting a tendency towards obfuscation, that is, stuffing twice as much information into a problem as will be needed to solve it and so imposing another sort of burden on the test-taker. Nevertheless, quite consistent over the past few years in th [more]

I teach accounting at Marist College & SUNY Dutchess and have tutored several WyzAnt students in accounting and TASC equivalency-diploma preparation. I'm a graduate of Tufts University and have completed three years of advanced math through calculus and differential equations. I excel in all high-school math courses with particular emphasis on algebra & geometry. I'm familiar with the TASC (Test Assessment for Secondary Completion) program and the requirements in the math sections. My tutoring methods emphasize student effort with the use of preparatory books and course texts. I act as a fac [more]
