I am a molecular virologist who has worked in academia, industry, and with the National Institutes of Health in my career. My Ph.D. in virology comes from Ohio State University, as well as a Master's from University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science from University of Illinois. One of the primary skills I learned while moving from one sector to another is how to teach math and science to non-scientists, which in turn lead to a love of teaching science to students. I've tutored students... [more]

I scored 767 on the SAT Math test I took before being admitted to Brown, ranked in the 98th percentile on the GMAT before being admitted to MIT, and 760 on both the quantitative and analytical sections of the GRE before being admitted to a PhD program at NYU. I know that test formats have changed since I took them because I have helped my children to do as well on their SATs in the past few years. I cannot promise you any specific scores but I can prepare you to do as well as you can on your SAT Math test. [more]

I have taken many math classes, through calculus two. I have kept up with algebra and geometry because I use them frequently in physics and chemistry, so I know how to apply math to different problems. I do well with explaining the basics to help understand more complicated topics. I am a Smith College graduate and previously received Massachusetts teaching certification for high school chemistry. I am currently a PhD student in biomedical engineering. I have more than 5 years of college chemistry tutoring experience, including lab work, and I also have experience tutoring high school chemis [more]

I have tutored numerous students preparing for the SAT. I work with students on concepts, breaking down word problems, and how to use their time wisely, since this is a timed test. Having scored a 720 on the SAT Math, I know what to expect. Study guides for the test helped as it presented questions not found in our state mathematics regents curriculum at the time, even as an honors math student it was not covered in my High School. I will take measures to see my students not fall in those types of traps I have detected in my own past. I will use the resources of this site as an advantage well. You may even start to think of it as a "math app!" Knowing how to get this grade from personal experience will help with instructing future students to emulate sound methods and ap [more]

Using the teaching experience that I've accumulated over the last 3 years, I not only teach my students the math that's going to be on the SAT, but I also provide tips and strategies that make the SAT much easier to ace. Hi I'm Mark! I'm currently working towards my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I enjoy tutoring because it gives me a chance to share what I've learned with others. Most students that I've talked to say they don't enjoy Math because they just don't understand it and they think that it's their fault for not being smart enough. Ho [more]
