I have been tutoring students for the SAT for years. I focus on three things: review of concepts, teaching new information, and strategy. The way I execute my plans depends on a student's goals and timeline. On average, my students see a 15-20%+ bump in their score on the test and learn very useful test taking strategies that can be applied to any sort of standardized test. My students' results after tutoring with me: Last Year Results ------------------------- Greatest Score Increase: 50% (ACT 20 -> 30) Greatest Grade Increase: 20% (70 -> 90) Highest ACT Score: 32/36 Highest SAT Score: [more]

The new SAT math section covers arithmetic, algebra 1 and 2, geometry, and miscellaneous subjects, such as probability, data, and graph analysis. I have a minor in mathematics as well as a life-long love of math. I have prepared students for all areas of the SAT, including math. I have been in the teaching profession for 37 years and have taught kindergarten through college. I have a bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in mathematics and a master's degree in English literature with a concentration in composition. I spent most of my career as a college professor, teaching at such [more]

Over the past few years, I have helped numerous math students raise failing grades to A's, tackling everything from basic arithmetic to advanced calculus. Factoring problems? I'm your man. Don't understand congruence proofs? I can help. Over-intimidated by trigonometric identities? I've got you covered. I always try to help my students understand new concepts in terms of those with which they are already familiar. I patiently break down new formulas and processes until they look like familia... As a young boy, I had a learning disability. I was a slow learner and required extended time on my tests. Since I learned differently from other students, I needed extra help. This "help" came in the form of several outstanding tutors. Whether it was proofreading a paper or cramming for an algebra test, my academic success is because of their efforts. They are the reason I went into education. I have been tutoring since 2010, and began professionally tutoring in 2011. Most of my experience i... [more]

I have been tutoring for the SAT for the past 4 years. I believe that I have unique strategies that will help improve your students score. I did incredibly well on the SAT and I think my method of practice will help you succeed! I am incredibly passionate about math, which can be seen in my teaching style. My method is to teach a certain problem and do an example and then to let the student try it with assistance. This way, they can learn techniques on how to do their math problems on their own! Hi! I am a recent graduate from Georgia Tech. My degree is in physics, however I am comfortable with all K-12 math. I have worked with both physics and math students for several years, concentrating at the middle and high school level with some college tutoring thrown in for good measure. I have also tutored elementary school children in all subjects. Watching the difference in my students when they grasp a new idea or method as their confidence grows is one of the most amazing things I hav... [more]

Hello, and thanks for viewing my profile! I'm a math teacher at Stephenson High School, and teaching is a "second career" for me. Most of my adult professional life was in the corporate world... so I think I bring a good dose of real-world experience to the classroom. From 2013 to 2016, I lived and worked in Shanghai, China as the headmaster of a small, private international high school. It was a life changing experience. Our charter was to prepare Chinese high school students to atte... [more]

I have tutored SAT math for four years in the Atlanta area through two separate tutoring companies. I also earned a high score on my own math SAT testing and have had great practice applying many mathematical concepts while solving complex chemical equations throughout my own studies (M.S. and B.S. in chemistry, taking up through Calculus III). My approach to studying for the SAT math section with students is to help them gain exposure and confidence by working practice problems under my guidance and gentle facilitation. [more]

My goal is to provide students with confidence and competence in mathematics and the SAT. To me, confidence is just as important as knowing the material. My most recent positions as a full time Math Teacher in Gwinnett County, Math Instructor with Sylvan Learning Group and SAT Instructor with Pro Tutoring allow for a hands-on approach to student enrichment. I specialize in providing test taking strategies that manage stress/fatigue, save time and use simple but proven methods for solving diff... [more]

I have program development experience in mathematics (elementary) and high school (algebra and science) leading to student gains in achievement. I have presented before state and local educational conferences concerning math programs that increased student achievement. A critical element in these programs is reading comprehension, mathematical processes and practices that develop student confidence through practice and often student verbal engagement. Math literacy, math practice and acclimation to the SAT testing environment are important components for a student to do well. [more]
