My major course of study in college was history, not mathematics. However, unlike most students who majored in the humanities, I have always loved math. In high school,I received high grades in my math courses, and scored a 640 on the math section of the SAT exam. I therefore decided to take Differential Calculus at SUNY at Buffalo, despite my major and got an A. Thus, I am one of those rare ducks in the humanities, a writer who really like math. When I took the test to qualify for teaching SAT math, I scored 100%. I enjoy math immensely because it makes me think logically to solve problems, [more]

My name is Abbey and I'd love to be your tutor. I have been tutoring for over ten years. I am a former MIT student and I graduated from UAlbany with a BS in Mathematics and Statistics and a minor in Economics. I have a lot of experience tutoring. While I was in Albany, I worked with three private local tutoring companies. In addition to those, as you can see, I am a tutor with WyzAnt. I have logged over 5,000 tutoring hours at WyzAnt. I was ranked in the top 50 tutors of WyzAnt out of 6... [more]

Recently I worked over the phone with a student going over numerous SAT math questions. This process went very well. I have an excellent understanding of this level of math. I taught using a copy of The Official SAT Study Guide 2nd Edition by CollegeBoard. Although I was a meteorologist for 40 years I always loved math more than anything and always wanted to teach students who found math a challenge or difficult. I have had almost 8 years of experience tutoring math including algebra, geometry, trig, SAT Math and GED math. I have helped students understand and have found it more rewarding [more]

Hi my name is Matt and I am a Graduate Physics student at the University at Buffalo. I graduated in 2017 with a degree in Physics and a minor in mathematics. After my completion of graduate school, I will pursue becoming a research professor at a top tier university. I have been tutoring through Wyzant for nearly three years now. My tutoring experience extends outside of my time here with Wyzant to my early years as an undergraduate and sometime in High School. I specialize in tutoring A... [more]

I truly enjoy seeing those I teach "get it" and have that "ah ha" moment. A structural engineer by trade, I have to continually learn new things each and every day. It's my job! Math is my specialty of course, but I don't fit the mold as a typical engineer as I enjoy interacting with people too. Tutoring experience? Well...besides the hours on wyzant tutoring mostly algebra and trigonometry I have previously volunteered to teach at engineering outreach events at the Buffalo Museum of Sci... [more]

I have been involved in scientific research for 20+ years both in academia and industry. I have a PhD in Pharmacology and a BS in Biochemistry. I was an Assistant Professor at a medical college and more recently an entrepreneur in biotech startup companies. So what you really want to know is how would I tutor? My approach to tutoring has always been to "keep it simple" and break down the concepts into small and understandable parts. I first determine where the student is in terms of ... [more]

I have worked in the non-profit world for 25 years. I have a lot of experience putting together written communications, doing computer programming, and working with databases and database management systems. While that summarizes most of my work experience, it does not include perhaps my strongest passion of all...math. I have a bachelors degree in math from Canisius College, and it is something I have always loved. I would very much be interested in joining your organization and tuto... [more]
