Standardized tests seem to be one of my natural abilities. I scored in the 99% my first time taking the official GMAT, GRE and LSAT and I've scored perfect on subsequent exams. I enjoy taking exams (I know that sounds weird), and I enjoy helping others do the same.... [more]

Having experienced and overcome many personal challenges in test-taking and exams, I can relate to students who struggle with the formalities of standardized testing. If you're struggling with the math itself, I will show how to connect a basic understanding of the material to developing strong instincts for solving SAT problems carefully and efficiently. Experienced math tutor and qualified through upper level calculus (including vector calculus; differential equations) and linear algebra. I have an extensive background not only in math itself but also in the philosophy and history of mathe [more]

I've been teaching and tutoring the SAT for the last six years, and in that time I've learned that SAT Math is nothing like the math students are used to seeing in high school. It's not that it's more difficult or fundamentally different - it's that the SAT presents math like no other test. This means that even students who do well in high school math classes, even students in AP Calculus and Statistics can sometimes do poorly on the SAT. The test plays dirty, and many students are puzzled by the types of questions the SAT asks. That's why I teach my students more than just the math skills the [more]

The key to SAT math is to realize that it's a standardized test - to compare students from year to year they are testing the same rules over and over. The form of the questions may vary, but once you identify the rule that they are testing you can find how the numbers fit into the rule. I have my own material that lays out all the rules that SAT math tests, plus practice problems for each. I'm a retired software developer and live in Philadelphia. I have tutored SAT and ACT math and reading for The Princeton Review, tutored K-12 math and reading and SAT and ACT for Huntington Learning Center [more]

My name is Marlene and my motto is "Math is fun." You've heard that before and you may not agree but it's true. My goal is for my students to agree with this statement as well. We all learn differently and my focus is to present material in various ways to determine the best way for each student to master the material. Explanations are key and my approach includes detailed solutions where appropriate, that students can use as a guide to help learn the topic. I have a bachelor's degree in M... [more]
