I took the SAT II in Math three times, and on my final time I achieved a perfect 800. The trick? SAT Practice Exams! As it turns out, my teachers neglected to cover just ONE concept that was in several problem on the exam, so all I had to do was learn it. The example problems in a practice exam cover ALL of the material you will see on the test, (which, by the way, ONLY covers up to Algebra). So now, you just have to understand the limited number of concepts that you will be tested on. If you choose me to tutor you in SAT Math, I recommend you buy a practice exam book (with answers, no expla [more]

I scored in the 98th percentile on the Math section of the SAT, and I have lots of tutoring experience throughout high school and college. I graduated at the top of my class for Electrical Engineering, which required of me the mastering of basic mathematics present on the SAT. As a successful undergraduate and a Masters student in the challenging, interdisciplinary field of Acoustical Engineering, I know how important a great teacher can be. Through fantastic teachers I have had in my own life, I learned unique and proven teaching methods that I apply to all of the students I tutor. I am ext [more]

I've taught math for the last 12 years. My experience has been at the middle school and high school levels. Part of my teaching is to preparing students for different types of standardized tests such as the ACT, SAT, PSAT, CST, AP and IB. I have given workshops prepping students for these exams. I am a graduate of UC San Diego with a degree in Management Science and a minor in Art. I have a Master of Education from UC San Diego with credentials to teach Mathematics and Physics. I have supplemental credentials to also teach Business, Economics, and Art. As a high school student I scored [more]

Greetings! I have been an educator since 1987. A friend asked me to help a young girl who was struggling with feeling intimidated by her male tutor in ESL. I discovered then a passion for teaching and have been doing so in a variety of positions both formal and informal since then. I push my students to learn the specific information they ask of me. Perhaps more importantly though, it is my hope that they will find a passion for learning and gain skill sets that they can use in all their end... [more]

As a lifelong learner, I am very driven to help others achieve their goals in the classroom. I've been a high school and college math tutor for 8 years, and worked for UCLA to teach upper division linear algebra. I do not aim to simply get my students to pass, but truly help them understand the material so they are not simply regurgitating information. I specialize in tutoring Pre-Calculus, Calculus I/II/III, any lower division math/stats course (linear algebra, discrete, diff eq's, etc.), ... [more]

I have over 500 hours experience tutoring students in high school and college math. I worked as a staff tutor in college for USC Student-Athlete Academic Services where I assisted student-athletes with their coursework and study skills. I have tutored between 1 and 3 students at a time and have led review sessions for groups of 10 students. Tutoring is one of my passions. I am an enthusiastic instructor and patient listener. I love focusing out on others and facilitating their growth. My s... [more]

As a high school mathematics teacher I developed a philosophy of student success: - Students must own the prerequisite concepts and skills. - Teachers must teach appropriate concepts and skills aligned to current standards. - Support must be accessible. If you are struggling, chances are you have not yet mastered all the tools needed for developing new skills and grasping new concepts. I will provide the support you need to build a strong mathematical foundation. Together with your su... [more]

I enjoy helping students open doors for themselves by achieving high test scores and admission to selective schools because I was fortunate to have those doors opened for me through hours of hard work and the thoughtful advice of my own mentors. Particularly, I am focused on helping students prepare for and achieve admission to highly-selective colleges, universities, and professional graduate programs. In addition to admissions assistance and consulting, I help students build toward thei... [more]

After competing in national math tournaments in high school and taking BC Calculus in the 10th grade, I enrolled at Harvard College where I graduated in four years with both bachelor's and master's degrees in Applied Math with a focus in economics. I subsequently studied at Georgia Tech's business school where I received a master's degree in strategic management. I currently work in San Diego as a financial analyst. My focus when tutoring is on helping students learn by doing, not by ... [more]
