I can help you get the best possible score on the SAT Math section! It isn't easy, it requires perfection and time commitment, but if you are willing to work hard, I can help you reach toward the perfect 800. I help you by understanding your weaknesses (time management or content); doing practice problems and understanding every single mistake; filling math concept gaps; active, not passive learning of the mistakes; maximizing your score by saving time; eliminating careless mistakes; and mastering EVERY Math skill (even the rare ones). I have been teaching and tutoring math since I was in college, and have been doing it professionally for the last 15 years. I tutor mostly high school and college students, but I have tutored 3rd grade thru univesity too. I enjoy math and I have many different ways to approach difficult subjects. I am NOT big on memorizing formulas, although there are a few that DO need to be memorized. I try to approach math from a logical perspective so that the formulas and functions make sense. I am ... We will cover subjects including: Heart of Algebra, Passport to Advanced Math, Problem Solving, and Data Analysis. In addition, we will include geometry, trigonometry, and problems with complex numbers. Also, we will put together a weekly study program to increase the score. I also do test prep for SAT Math I and SAT Math II subject tests. I believe students should be confident in their math skills. By getting good grades in school, their options in life (e.g. jobs, career paths) are kept open. I gauge where the student is at in knowing the concepts by having him/her work out the problems [more]

I can help your student set a goal, practice test-taking techniques and strategies. They will need to take full practice tests between sessions for the techniques to imprint. I have been around instructors for my entire life. My mother was a general tutor for the neighborhood and I helped her when our small apartment was stuffed with children and textbooks, writing, reading and aiding them with math after my own homework was done. Much later, I found a paying job at a small tutoring center. There, I mainly tutored physics and, tutoring many students working on the same subject, I was able to t [more]

I've worked with dozens of students to create individualized study programs for the SAT, and led classroom discussions for effective solution techniques, stressing the importance of and the connectedness of the fundamental mathematics topics covered by this exam. I've also worked for hundreds of hours with students to prepare for the additional challenges of the associated Level 1 and Level 2 Subject exams. I suspect I've come to an understanding of mathematics unlike just about anyone you might have met. I could discuss it endlessly, and in as much depth as any audience would allow. The ben [more]

Taking admission tests requires not only mastering the subject but also the test taking process. Setting a test taking strategy is crucial for success. In a test taking environment in which time is pressuring, being precise and fast at the same time requires training. SAT Math is one of my favorites. I have more than 15 years of experience in tutoring students of all ages and levels of education from elementary to graduate school. I am most interested in changing the way my students perceive themselves when approaching math. Throughout the years, I have had the most rewarding experience when m [more]

I did very well on my SAT in both math and verbal when I took the exam. Since then, I have learned math on a deeper level and have tutored it to many people. If you want to improve your math scores on the SAT, you will not find a tutor who can help you improve your scores more than I can. I have an undergraduate degree from CSU Fullerton in Mathematics and Statistics with a Finance Cognate. I helped run the Math tutoring lab for almost 5 years, and have been tutoring for longer than that, having worked for 3 different companies before I started my own business. Having tutored many students in [more]

7 years of tutoring experience in Algebra 1 and 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Physics. I just graduated a year ago from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I got a bachelors in electrical engineering and almost got a minor in math. I've been tutoring math since I was a junior in high school and have also been a personal grader for math, physics, and engineering professors at my university. I've tutored people in various math subjects and helped students get 5's on AP exams and fini... [more]

There are several easy things that you can do to help your SAT math score. Knowing the Pythagorean triples will make several problems easier. Understanding basic Geometry, the formulas, and principles are also helpful. Using a book to learn the types of problems is good, memorizing the specific problems is not. Once you know which problems you are having problems with, it is important to learn how to solve all similar problems. The books are always easier than the test. I am a UCI honors graduate in mathematics with a minor in computer science. I started tutoring as a favor for a friend [more]
