Education is my passion. I naturally love to learn, challenge myself, and help others do the same. I earned a B.A. in Psychology then began teaching Middle School English. You would think this career choice and degree were unrelated, but it's actually all that kept the middle schoolers from driving me crazy! While teaching, I earned a B.S. in the Biological Sciences and earned a biotechnology certificate afterwards. During this period, I also kept up a healthy volunteer pastime teaching a w... [more]

The math you need to understand to earn a good score on the SAT is primarily algebra and geometry (the ACT has some trigonometry questions as well). You get penalized for incorrect answers so random guessing will almost certainly lower your score. However, if you can rule out some of the multiple choice answers you can reach a point where guessing can be beneficial to you. In addition to helping you understand the material I can also help teach you related test taking skills which will further help your score. [more]

Before I get to my experience, I would like to discuss my theory of tutoring. My goal with tutoring is to get my tutoree (I made that up) to understand the material so that they can do the tasks themselves. I typically break down the tasks into mini steps so that the person I am helping can fill in any gaps they might have.
