I can't believe that I am finishing up my second year as a full-time private academic tutor. I am constantly reminded why I love teaching as a private one-on-one academic tutor/teacher. My job allows me to develop and grow as an educator. As I develop and grow, I see the results in my students and their successes. I tutor ages 2-70 across all the major subjects. It makes me smile as I review and teach concepts, all the little Ah-Ha moments I experience as I fill in the gaps in my own knowledg... [more]

I taught in Illinois for seven years and Phoenix for 5 years. I primarily taught high school. The courses taught and number of times taught are in the list below. I meet the requirements for "Highly Qualified" in Mathematics. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics (physics minor), and am able to present material via a variety of formats and approaches. If I see that you are not "getting it" one way, I'll approach the concept from a different angle. I am generally quite patient and... [more]

The SAT math section covers the basics of several branches of mathematics, and I am well-versed in the principles and skills of these different branches. The math section also requires students to be able to process information quickly and apply rules to the information given, and they sometimes need to think outside the box in order to know how to answer each question. I can help students not only learn the rules and how to apply them, but also to think independently so that they can correctly solve new and varied problems in these and other areas of mathematics. Hello Students, My name is Mr. G.; I am a man on fire to teach to all who want to learn. I have spent most all my life in school as a teacher or a student and now both, a teacher and a student. Learning is meant to be an adventure that will increase your life. I love learning and sharing what I have learned with others. When I was young, I imagined myself on the battlefield of Picacho Pass in 1862 chasing the confederacy out of Arizona. When I became older I would read about the amazing adve... [more]

I have always loved learning since I was a young child, especially in the realms of math and science. I was the kid who would prefer to be outside in the woods than in the house. I loved to explore things under rocks and figure out how everything interacted. That passion, curiosity, and hands on learning style continues to this very day. Learning through exploration and doing continued as I received my degree in Biology from Reed College. There, I experienced high quality lab science, culmina... [more]

I have a degree in mathematics from Arizona State University. To get this degree, I had to become an expert in Calculus, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. I took 5 semesters of Calculus, the last two semesters being Advanced Calculus and Differential Equations. In order to pass these classes, one has to be an expert in Calc 1, 2, and 3, which is light years above and beyond what is taught in AP Calculus in High School. I also took Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra, Partial Differential E... [more]

I am very comfortable and knowledgeable in the SAT Math format and know what it needs to get the highest score possible. I love Math and have enjoyed teaching it to students who need help. I understand that Math can be complicated and it is not something you get right away. I believe with practice and skill one can be better able to understand it. I know this because I also grew up no [more]
