Let's start with why I love tutoring. The most important reason is that my life experiences have taught me that almost nothing is beyond anyone's grasp, as long as they truly desire to learn it and have a teacher who believes in them. I enjoy being that teacher. While I am new to this platform, I have been teaching and tutoring in some fashion for over 30 years, starting with being a Calculus tutor for undergraduates when I was in graduate school. I have been the math teacher at 2 charter... [more]

The SAT Math covers topics from Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. If you are in Pre-Calc, you have most likely seen all the information before. While the test is certainly checking for content knowledge, it also checks for a certain level of ability to manipulate the material. This is one area where the SAT likes to do more of that the ACT. Starting with the 2016 testing, the Math portion now has a calculator and non-calculator portion. Though for a large part of the calculator portion, just about all questions can be done without, and usually with less effort or the same [more]

My name is Melanie and I am a twenty seven year old graduate of Kalamazoo College. I majored in math and physics and received departmental honors in the latter. I spent quite a bit of time at school helping my professors TA their classes and introductory level labs. I also completed a senior thesis about physics at the high school level by working closely with a magnet school physics teacher and doing my own lesson planning. I have tutored and taught in many countries, including the USA, Aus... [more]

I have worked as a Teacher's Assistant for multiple difficult engineering courses, which sometimes involved lecturing classes of over 100 students. I have also worked as a private tutor in the subjects of calculus and engine... [more]

While in college, I was able to pass a calculus class and a physics class based on calculus. I also majored in marketing and got a teaching minor in economics, which are mathematically based subjects. I also remember being able to help a class of algebra or pre-algebra students one day as a substitute teacher. So although I didn't receive a formal teaching certification in mathematics (unlike for history), I would be able to help students prepare for the math section of the SAT. When I was a high school student, I did get a 540 score in the math section of the SAT and a 680 for the quantitati [more]
