My love of teaching comes from the thrill of watching students gain confidence and succeed in reaching their goals, whatever those might be. In nearly 10 years of working for nationally-recognized tutoring and supplemental education companies, I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of students from elementary through college levels find their confidence and see their grades and test scores improve. It's been the most rewarding aspect of my education career, and I couldn't see myself do... [more]

The math SAT can be a difficult test. It requires both math and some VERBAL skills. Sometimes solving the problem is not hard if the student knows what is being asked. I offer strategies to all aspects of problem solving. Because the questions are mostly multiple choice, I expose the students to different ways to solve the question: process of elimination, abstract reasoning, graphic representation, etc. It is not unusual for my students to achieve 60-85 more points with short term tutoring. Thank you for reading my profile. [more]

Hi! My name is Sara, and I'm a Math and Science Tutor - but if need be, I can be a tutor in other academic subjects as well! I have been tutoring since high school, and the kids I have tutored have had their grades go up. I'm not trying to say that I'm an amazing teacher, I just think I have a thorough understanding of what I tutor, and thus I can get others to understand this as well. I just recently graduated in Mechanical Engineering, so my best subjects are, of course, Math and Science, b... [more]

I try to explain concepts and ensure that they know how to solve the problems. When studying for tests, I try to cove [more]

This includes teaching students multiple ways to solve problems and allowing them to choose which method is most logical to them. I have numerous, full-length practice tests that we can work through to help sharpen your skills. I am a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a magna cum laude B.A. degree in Mathematics. I have worked as a tutor in the CNU math lab and as [more]
