Having experienced and overcome many personal challenges in test-taking and exams, I can relate to students who struggle with the formalities of standardized testing. If you're struggling with the math itself, I will show how to connect a basic understanding of the material to developing strong instincts for solving SAT problems carefully and efficiently. Differentiated math instruction through upper-level calculus (including vector calculus; differential equations) and linear algebra. I teach at an independent school for kids with learning differences (including ADHD, dyslexia, executive fu [more]

SAT Math is something that every student can ace. I truly believe that with the right training, every student can get to an 800. My 780 on the SAT math section was due to not reviewing one concept (matrices) before going into the exam, and I therefore ran out of time while solving that problem. I will ensure that every student knows each of the types of problems and has mastered them in order to maximize their score on the SAT math section. The most important thing for a student is a deep understanding of the math content. I will work with the student at any grade level to move toward understa [more]

The SAT can seem like an impossible obstacle to conquer. However, through my experience tutoring students in SAT prep, I can offer various strategies and methods that are helpful in test-taking and time-management for the SAT. Whether it is the math, reading, or writing section, I help students identify the types of questions they struggle with and talk through strategies that can help them. Specifically on the math section, I can help students learn formulas and methods that they can apply to the various types of math problems they will find on the SAT. [more]

I scored a 1590 on my SAT, and a perfect 800 on my SAT Math Level 2 subject test. My journey into teaching and tutoring began with math but I have since expanded my tutoring to include science and test prep as well. After winning 1st place in PA on math competitions, I served as the Assistant Coach for Germantown Friends School?s MathCounts team. In that capacity, I taught small math classes and offered one-on-one help to students. From there, I began private tutoring and discovered the efficacy of tailoring my instruction to each individual learner. While in college, ... [more]

I find that many students have forgotten the basic concepts behind each problem. My approach to review basic concepts behind each math problem so that variations of the same problem will be recognized, and solved. SAT/ACT Math: just as important as knowing the content, is having a strategy to complete these sections. When to do a problem, when not to. When to guess, when not to. Know the penalties for wrong answers. My personal notes will help the student master the basics, then expand to harder problems. It's not necessary to do all the problems, but you MUST get the easy and intermedi [more]
