Hi, my name is Tracy. I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan and in my late 20s I came to America with very little English. As a result, the only job I could find was in the Chinese restaurant business. After some years, I was frustrated with my inability to communicate with customers, so I enrolled in an ESL class and studied very hard. Later, with encouragement from my ESL teachers, I took community college level writing classes and, with much persistence, gradually improved my English. Te... [more]

I took the SAT II in Math three times, and on my final time I achieved a perfect 800. The trick? SAT Practice Exams! As it turns out, my teachers neglected to cover just ONE concept that was in several problem on the exam, so all I had to do was learn it. The example problems in a practice exam cover ALL of the material you will see on the test, (which, by the way, ONLY covers up to Algebra). So now, you just have to understand the limited number of concepts that you will be tested on. If you choose me to tutor you in SAT Math, I recommend you buy a practice exam book (with answers, no expla [more]

Hi! I'm Han and until last year I was a Ph.D. student at UCSD's bioengineering department (don't worry, I graduated safely). While working on my Ph.D., I've come to love teaching students and helping them solve problems, in lecture halls and during private office hours. However, I've been a tutor long before I started grad school as I've tutored Chemistry and Math in my community college for the chemistry department and for the Financial Aid office respectively. In my years teaching, I've c... [more]

Greetings! I have been an educator since 1987. A friend asked me to help a young girl who was struggling with feeling intimidated by her male tutor in ESL. I discovered then a passion for teaching and have been doing so in a variety of positions both formal and informal since then. I push my students to learn the specific information they ask of me. Perhaps more importantly though, it is my hope that they will find a passion for learning and gain skill sets that they can use in all their end... [more]

I've taught college level Chemistry and Organic Chemistry at the Community Colleges since 1998. My expertise is in developing entire courses and designing labs for both Organic and General Chemistry. My tutoring experience started back in 1994 teaching both SAT and GRE study techniques. Because I understand how all disciplines are truly integrated I can teach all High School and College level science and math courses. I received my BS in Biology from the University of California, San Diego ... [more]

I have obtained a Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics in 2013 from SDSU and a Bachelor's Degree in Pure Mathematics from UCSD. I am planning to teach at community colleges in the near future. Tutoring is a great way for me to refresh my knowledge and to gain more teaching experience. At SDSU, I was working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, where I prepared, lectured, and reviewed specialized supportive lessons to calculus students in parallel with the professor's lectures. Prior... [more]

Mathematics, Chemistry, and Science take effort to master but you should know that you can do them. The thought processes may be different than what you are used to, but once you become familiar with them, you can prosper in these subjects. I have worked with learners from a wide range of backgrounds. While I cannot say there won't be hard work and effort involved on your part, you can learn, and even enjoy, these subjects. I worked as a research scientist in applying chemistry and mathemati... [more]

After competing in national math tournaments in high school and taking BC Calculus in the 10th grade, I enrolled at Harvard College where I graduated in four years with both bachelor's and master's degrees in Applied Math with a focus in economics. I subsequently studied at Georgia Tech's business school where I received a master's degree in strategic management. I currently work in San Diego as a financial analyst. My focus when tutoring is on helping students learn by doing, not by ... [more]

Background: I graduated from UCSD with a Master's in Electrical Engineering. As a graduate student, I was a teaching assistant for undergraduate engineering and science classes. I have been tutoring part time for the past 3-4 years. I mainly tutor high school and undergraduate math and high school physics. Teaching/Tutoring Method: For the most part, I try to focus on helping the student understand the concepts. I have an excellent understanding of the subject and I can break it down to th... [more]
